painted Volant?

I had this crazy thought the other night. Anyone ever think of painting the volant box and tube to match the car? I was thinking about it but it's got a wird rough finish, it might be a pain. But in the end I think it would look cool. What do you guys think? I have never seen anyone that's done it.

I painted my fuse box and battery cover so I can't see why it would hurt to paint your
Volant if you wanted to.

Sounds like it could come out looking good if done well. Don't some people have their battery boxes or fusebox covers painted? I've never seen a Volant in person but I'd imagine it's made of similar plastic... very original idea, good luck with it if you try!

If done properly, it would look cool.
But if I did it, it would look like crap...lol

I've only had my volant for about a month and ain't ready to paint it just yet.

you'd have to make sure you wetsanded it well, since you'd have to smooth out the finish of the box which is pretty rough.

I know what you mean. Cost a few dollars to go and mess it up. I have been reading all the posts that I can about painting. I think I'll be able to pull it off. I would like to paint the battery cover, volant and the valve cover by the end of the summer. Out of money for the time so I'll have to do these such things for mods.

Just have to find some paint that will match the high heat paint I'll need for the valve cover, I think that's going to be fun.

the valve cover part will be the hardest to find since they usually only make some standard colors for the high heat parts. I'm not sure, but I don't think it needs to be as heatstrong as if you were painting the header. It looks like you are toreador red, like I am, good luck, I've spent alot of time looking without much luck.

That might not work. The Volant box is plastic, so you'll need an adhesion promotor first, and I don't know how well they work in heat.

Look into the Krylon Fusion line of paints. Its meant to fuse to plastic, so it might work better.
