DECEMBER RIDE OF THE MONTH(2006)

Member name: GOTTARIDE28
Location: Carol Stream, Illinois
Model: ZX3
Color: Liquid Grey

Why he loves his Focus:
"Ever since I sat in a ZX3 at the Chicago auto show, I fell in love with the cars sleek body style. Once I got the car back in January of 2005 I caught the bug mod quick. Not even 3,000 miles into the car, it was on its way to what it looks like today with almost all the performance and bodywork done with friends and myself. My focus is my hobby/obsession and I spend as much time as I can driving, modifying, showing, racing it. I also daily drive my car too, the car has almost 29K on it, and also is a outside car. So for the miles she has and being the outside car she is, she's holding and looking good. Besides the sleek look of the car its growing aftermarket is becoming huge and will keep building the car as time goes on."

His future plans:
"By spring/summer 2007 I plan on having stage2 from focus sport for the turbo with exedy stage2 clutch/flywheel. Summer plans are to invest in slicks for the track. Save up for a motor rebuild to turn up the boost!"

JANUARY RIDE OF THE MONTH(2007)

Member name: PITCH BLACK216
Location: Orono, Minnesota
Model: ZX3
Color: Pitch Black

Why he loves his Focus:
"There are way to many reasons I love her but these are the top ones.
Because it surprises the crap out of people. Who would think a focus could do that?
I have met a lot of great people because of her, a lot of who are now my some of my best friends.
Its something that I can tell people that I have done on my own.
But I think all in all, it has been the most fun to watch her mature, it went from a stock focus, to a ugly rice rocket, to a sexy euro styled Porsche eating machine!"

His future plans:
"ST170's are on their way. I really need to paint the white in the interior gray or something like that. Powder coat the IC piping. I would like to get some ¼ mile times. But who really knows, check back in a year or two."

FEBRUARY RIDE OF THE MONTH(2007)

Member name: CWCZX3
Location: York, Pennsylvania
Model: ZX3
Color: Autumn Orange

Why he loves his Focus:
"I originally bought the focus as a cheap daily driver back in Feb. of 2001 as a leftover 2000 model year. I only went to look and maybe test drive one. I saw them in The WRC which is what turned me onto them in the first place. I wanted something fun to drive with great handling and looks so as not to put a lot of miles on my '89 Shelby CSX. I tinted the windows the first weekend i had it. Next came the Dogbone inserts to stop all the motor movement. My first exterior mod was the mid wing from Wings West. I also installed a set of Goldline lowering springs to get rid of that 4x4 look. That's pretty much how the car stayed for the first year of ownership. I was happy with that and had the Shelby to drive when I wanted something fast.

Well a friend of mine that does a lot of work for Fox Marketing Got me into the whole sponsorship going to show and getting free product to improve my foci further. Well from there it all snowballed into the monster that it is now. Check out my albums below they are a pretty good time line of when the modding got serious.

Location: Burleson, Texas
Model: ZX4

Why he loves his Focus:
"Well at first the focus was bittersweet for me... I used to own a 1992 Chevy 2500HD 4x4 5spd that had a 350TBI with 360,000 on the same motor... strong running truck but at 8 mpg it was killin me... my dad bought me an 01 Focus SE (Zetec fully loaded) I was skeptical but after finding FF I started modding... i can say i messed it up bad and ended up getting a new one... I love this car all the way around now... good car... not many problems... good gas mileage...room for 5... and u can really make em haul ass... lol"

Why he loves his Focus:
"its dependable, its different, its fun to drive and fun to tear down and put back together, the boost aint so bad either."

His future plans:
"Future plans are small for now, the supercharger pretty much put me where i wanted to be, above the bolt on class but not into the complete money pit piston slinging range. id like to get the car running more efficiently, and fine tune it, delete the AC, install the race seats ive got sitting in my room, and relocate the battery. Alittle more power here and there maybe alittle more boost down the road if money and time permit. JUNE RIDE OF THE MONTH(2007)

Member name: TIRESMOKER
Location: Youngstown, Ohio
Model: ST (w/SAP)
Color: Pitch Black

Why he loves his Focus:
"I bought my 2006 ST On November 7th, 2005. She was a beauty. It brought a tear to my eye to see her all shined up and waiting for delivery for me at the dealership. On that day I drove off the lot with the intention of keeping her stock for my dd, boy was I wrong. The modding bug had bit me hard and as I grew closer to completing my ZX3, something hit. It all started out with some wheels, just something to complete the look of the car. But as the days grew I urned for more power. Then it finally let loose, and now my ST has become my second generation track monkey.

In short, I love my focus because it's the car you never saw coming. I love that compliments I get for it and the smiles on little kids faces as I drive through neighborhoods. It has earned me new friends drawn together by a community after the same goal, the love of these cars. I've been to many gatherings and met great people because of these cars, I've gained new friends that I wouldn't have met otherwise, and seen sights I wouldn't have seen without the Focus. It may sound corny, but these cars have become a major part of my life and have helped me grow as a individual."

His future plans:
"My future plans for the car included forged internals, and a Cosworth intake manifold. One of these days I'll get around to installing the clutch and flywheel, but I'm trying to get the most I can out of the stocker for now.

Also get some R-compounds for autocrossing and take 1st in SM."

Model: ZX3

Why he loves his Focus:
"I wont say that i loved the Focus the second I saw it or heard it was coming out, I kinda fell into my first Focus and from there on I did fall in love.
But what i love about my focus is for 1 the color. Limited production and stands out, always get comments on the color. I also love changing peoples mind about the focus by building a clean well flowing car. People know i talk about mods for weeks and weeks before i do them just to make sure i dont do anything crazy. I love the way it drives, I love the way it handles, I love the compliments i get on it, and I love watching people watch me drive by :)"

His future plans:
"Im obviously more show then go, so not too many power mods in the near future, but once im done looking good while going slow obviously the FS Stage2 or the HiBoost possibly.

OCTOBER RIDE OF THE MONTH(2007)

Member name: XP0S3D
Location: Wellington, Florida
Model: Sedan (SE)
Color: CD Silver

Why he loves his Focus:
"I love my focus because I built it myself, and it is an accopmlishment that I'm very proud of, especially having no prior experience building engines before. It has given me small quarks and trouble along the road and I have gone to sell it many times from being stressed out, but in the end, I just couldn't part with it. Then I turbocharged it and now I just love it because well, it beats the pants off of most of the cars I race. I get a lot of jaws dropping because people can't believe that 1. It's a boosted focus, 2. It's a sedan, and especially 3. It's an automatic."

His future plans:
"My future plans are to fabricate a paddle-shifting kit (one sick boost motherfocus!), get my hands on a Recaro interior when I can afford it, and also to get a limited slip, a transbrake, and an aluminum stator for my torque converter. I'd like to thank you all for showing continued support and offering help where I needed it. I learned almost everything from generous people on the forum willing to share their knowledge with me (Especially massive and the guys over at htperformance). They've helped me to take my focus farther than I could have ever imagined!"

Member name: NUMBER1187SVT
Location: Mansfield, Texas
Model: SVT (3 door)
Color: CD Silver

Why he loves his Focus:
"I love my Focus because it's a real SVT enthusiast car and is actually pretty rare. My parents bought it for me when I was almost fifteen with only 3k on it so that by the time I turned sixteen it could be close to paid off. Now that im eighteen, im really glad my dad bought it. I picked it out because it has a six-speed, is an SVT and (as I thought at first) looks really cool. After many alterations and tweaks, it is exactly what I wanted in a first car minus Brenbo's and a Turbo. Everybody at my school say its the only Focus they actually like... thats one of the reasons I like it.
It's an SVT, not just a Ford; that's why I love it."

His future plans:
"Last mods that'll be done to finish it off completely, will be Brembo front brakes, an undecided brand for a turbo system along with clutch and stuff, Eibach Coilovers, black leather racing seats with 5-point harnesses with matching rears and last, RS replica wheels with BFG NT KDWs. Then, hopefully, a new paint job in Ford's Performance Red."

Why he loves his Focus:
"Why I Love My Focus, By Super "the bean eater" Flea:

First off, i would like to thank every one for the support that was given to me. I'm very much in debt and very thankful. Every single person here on FocusFanatics has been great, very helpful and have also been very good friends! For that, I'm grateful.
I love my Focus Wagon because, to me, it's very unique. It's not something you would see everyday, like a riced out Honda. It may not be fast, but it's very reliable. I've honestly had zero problems with it. It has turned out to be a great car. When my wife an I were looking into getting a new car, we searched everywhere and saw many different cars. The only one thought caught my attention was this wagon. Of course, it was completely stock at the time and all my friends hassled me for buying a "wagon", but now, they have seemed to changed their mind about things.
Another thing i really enjoy about it is the handling. It's a blast to drive and with very little suspension mods, it corners like a champ! Oh, and it's very spaciouse... either that, or it's because I'm a little short dude.[hihi]"

His future plans:
"Well, i'm still in the "thinking about it" stage, but maybe a 00-04 to 05-07 front end swap with the SAP front bumper. Also thinking of changing my rear Roush bumper and replacing it with an SVT bumper. I'm also going to take it into the shop to re-do the paint. And maybe blacking out the headlights. Boost is also in my plans![thumb]"

Why he loves his Focus:
"The Top Ten Things Of Why I Love My SVT fOCUS

1) I was able to drive it right from the Dealer's Showroom to the Track without a single mod and won my class.
2) It's performance stats are on par with cars costing several thousands of dollars more.
3) It's Blue baby!
4) The performance to gas mileage ratio is phenomenal.
5) It's subtle, comfortable, and quiet enough to take on long highway trips,
yet will hunker down and take turns at high enough G's to keep up with the best of them.
6) It can haul a LOT of stuff in the back.
7) SVT's exterior tweaks and interior updates are noticable, but not overdone.
8) I never grow tired of watching the tach sweep quickly up to the 7,300 redline without skipping a beat.
9) These heated seats in the winter are oh so heavenly feeling to a cold "tush".
10) It's Blue Baby!!"

Why he loves his Focus:
"I love my focus because its a unique looking car. The first time i saw a focus i knew i just had to have one. A year later i finally got the chance to purchase one. After owning it for over a year i wanted to get a stick shift, and found this gorgeous grey focus at a dealer and had to buy it. After owning to foci for a while people always gave me crap for owning a focus, and not a Honda or Eclipse, like every other teen owns. Once i started to mod my focus people started to love my little car. I wasn't modding it to gain attention and respect, but along the way it did. People know a lot about my car and love seeing me doing things to it, and for me its a great car to work on, parts are cheap, and the car hasn't given me any issues yet. Its been in the shop a few times to get repaired, the car just wont go down. I am gonna keep this thing as long as i can, i love everything about the car, its looks, the power is good for me, and its spacious for hauling things around. I can't wait for summer time to come so i can do some more work to it. Also looking forward to the AutoX season so i can do some more racing with it. I love my focus and wouldn't trade it for any car out there right now, its my baby and i love it so."

Why he loves his Focus:
"i love my focus because my father helped me pay for it right before he passed away. he lost his battle with cancer after 5 years. he only got to ride in it once but is a ride ill never forget. he was big into cars. as a kid he drag raced all over the island and won many awards. my mom said im like him because he won alot drag racing and im doing the same just at car shows. ive dedicated my car to him hence the senior edition embloms, engine cover and headrests. we had the same name so everyone called me junior and him senior. i will never get rid of this car. it just means too much to me. im sure he's lookin down on the car and he's very proud of what ive done to it.

I refused to even test drive this car until my mom made me, and the second i took a tight S-curve on a country road I was sold. AUGUST RIDE OF THE MONTH(2008)

Member name: SYZ
Location: California
Model: ZX3
Color: Yellow

Why he loves his Focus:
"It's really the only car that I've been able to take to this modification level and not resort to credit cards. It's great knowing that the mods purchased are paid off when they're shipped out. It helps that the Focus is really quite affordable to mod, and I think that with some minor exterior tweaks, it can really shine. I love the way the hatches look especially. Nice and sporty! My focus handles well, is fun to drive, and it's not your typical tuner, so it's nice to be able to add some diversity to the plethora of modded Acuras and Hondas that are generally seen. This car has been great to me; no major problems have plagued it yet, so I'll keep my fingers crossed. The Focus community on FF is also key for my continued interest in modding and pushing it to the next level. There are some AWESOME people on FF, and the positive attitudes keep me coming back!"

His future plans:
"I've got a ported head with Crane Stage 2 cams and Cosworth valvesprings awaiting shipping. CFM underdrive pulleys, a tune and some nitrous will complete my engine mods for the time being. For the interior, I'll be putting in a street roll cage, a wideband and a couple other gauges. I want to swap out my wheels for some RS rims as well. For the drivetrain, an Exedy clutch w/ lightweight flywheel and a Torsen LSD should do it. An SVT brake conversion is also close around the corner. I'm sure I'll be back to engine mods after I get all that squared away, so higher compression pistons and a Ranger crank will be in order. I'm sure there will be other things that lure my money away as well."

Why he loves his Focus:
"This is my second Focus, and I love the fact it’s a great car for the money. JANUARY RIDE OF THE MONTH(2009)

Member name: MR.BERGNER
Location: Missouri
Model: ZX3 (S2)

Why he loves his Focus:
"When I went car shopping I wanted something in a hatchback, affordable payments, and can be heavily modified. Then I found my 2001 S2 online from a dealership, and even before my first car payment I had done a dozen mods to it. I never felt the need to have to go fast in a straight line, but rather something that can attack the corners better than most out there. Also, getting into painting I've come to realize that the Focus has such great body lines and the paint schemes are endless."

His future plans:
"For the immediate future I need to finish a complete make over of my interior including new seats, a near complete SVT interior and a bunch of other goodies. Need to get my SVT header, cat & flex coated wrapped and installed. Replacing all belts, gaskets, hoses and whatever else that moves on the outside of the block. And will be installing probably whatever bolt-ons mods are left. In the spring or early summer I'm repainting it. Haven't decided exactly what color, but it'll be another one-off scheme involving Liquid Gray I'm sure. For the long term, I'd like to garage it when I get a house - get another focus for a DD and then build up the S2. Not sure if I'll do a SVT motor swap, or just build up the motor I have now and boost it."

FEBRUARY RIDE OF THE MONTH(2009)

Member name: MTADD162
Location: Massachusetts
Model: Sedan (ST)
Color: CD Silver

Why he loves his Focus:
"I love my focus because this car represents who I'am. This is my first car that I bought off a actual dealer, I fell in love with it as soon as I sat in it. All my previous vehicles that I owned I did modify a little bit but because they were just hand me downs or "something to get by" it was never what I really wanted and the modifying world didn't have much, if any support for them. The Focus opened up a whole fun new world to me. This car made me realize how much I love to work with my hands and learn how things work, and at the same time gave me appreciation because I know that I'm doing it. I really didnt know what I was getting my hands on when I bought the ST. I thought Ford just slapped a fancy badge and gave it some red stitching and a silver dash benzel. Once I got home and did some research, I fell in love with it all over again. I knew i was going to have fun making this car the way I want to make it. And from what I've done so far, I know this car is going to keep on providing fun for me for a while. Thanks to everybody for your help and support."

His future plans:
"During Spring break I will be installing Crane Stage II Cames with the Spring and Retainer upgrade
HTP 3" MAF and Light Weight Pullies
and even further down the road I would like to get Coilovers. I think once I'm there I will be pretty content....until I blow something that is, then it would just be built into my N/A beast or maybe even some boost."

Member name: FASTZX360
Location: Texas
Model: ZX5
Color: Cloud 9

Why he loves his Focus:
"I love my Focus because all I hear is people putting them down...how ugly they are... how Ford made a mistake...blah, blah, blah! Then they see my car and for some reason they can't stop to it. Then they get to ride in it and it leaves them with a huge on their unknowing faces! Not to mention all the great friends I have gained. I did most of the work on the car with the help a few good friends. I love it more every day I drive it. I have been through a lot with this car. Wether it was good or bad I would not change anything."

His future plans:
"The future of the car has yet tbd. That doesn't mean I'm getting rid of the car, but maybe something along the lines of bewst...Maybe. I know some rims for sure(taking donations) and a Euro plate for the front (any suggestions?)"
