Muscle mustangs and fast fords turboed ZX5

Well today I was down at Level 10 performance transmissions by my house and I saw a roush zx5 that looked very familiar. So when I got home I did some investigating and remembered that I saw it on the muscle mustangs and fast fords web site as one of their project foci. Well sure enough it is the same car. I guess they screwed up the trans or something with all that horsepower and need a quick fix. Just thought I would share....

Ahh, it's an automatic tranny. For those who think that auto's aren't slower than manuals stock, check his stock time. The turbo 1/4 mile time isn't bad though.

I've never said autos were as fast as stock standards. I just said that when you reach a higher level of power the amount of hp taken up by the AT will overcome the amount of time it takes you to shift. Plus if you're getting into bracket racing- you'll never be able to put down a consistant time with a standard- no matter how good you are. One mistake could end up embarrassing you at a strip even with stock power- what do you think your ET looks like when you miss 3rd? Turbo Joe has a drag race car... ask him what transmission he has, or would want for an elimination race.

If you think I don't like standards or can't drive one, check what I drive. I had to special order this car, but it's not a drag race car. If I had a drag race car, it would be a Lentech ATX ZX3 built for nothing but racing.

Here's something else for ya to consider- how much more hp does an AT use when the torque converter is locked up as compared to a standard?

Hey, I wasn't referring to anyone in particular. This isn't meant as a personal attack. There's just alot of people in the world that think auto's are just as fast as manuals, and I know that this depends on alot of things, but for the majority on the road, this is true.

I don't know about you guys, but if you miss 3rd, you have no right being in a competitive race that's worth anything. Just my thoughts on it.
