Mspeed3 test ...

Not bad, not bad at all.

But from what people are reporting, they're not all that easy to get right now.

Seems like most peeps are paying around 24.5-25k for a non GT model (with a couple of options), more than I would want to spend on a car right now.

Still, if I could get a non GT model with NO options (about 23k) ...

I'd be tempted!

I'll take the Subaru (ugly styling and all)...I was surprised with the similarity in price, the mazda is exactly the same thought they were gonna be cheaper

I can't blame you. The starting price is indeed a lot higher than they promised. And, the Subie is quicker to 60 and has AWD.

I'm a little surprised the speed 3 isn't quicker. I know it is a heavy vehicle, but with that much HP I would hope it to be a little quicker. It excels in a lot of areas though! I mean look at those brake figures!! The mazda is probably a lot nicer on the inside..and it has xenons..

I've always been of the opinion that the base WRXs are somewhat underpowered...although with the addition of the 2.5 H4 over the old 2.0 its not quite as bad. I'd definitely take the MS3 over the base WRX...but I'd take a STi over both of them

Well, the non-GT model is suposed to go for about $22,300 w/o any options (23k with shipping).

And the non GT still has the same engine/drivetrain. So that'd be the one you'd want to get to save a few $$.

Yeah, it's quicker to 60 alright!

1.9" Yikes!

Cant beat awd, but ....

Did you notice how the Mazdaspeed almost catches it at the end of the 1/4 mile? Seems like the Speed3 would have overtaken it at that point.

Plus, I'm kind of warming up to the looks of the Speed3 (esp. in Red).

I'm told by my sources through a dealer that they had to De-Tune 1st and 2nd and possibly a bit of 3rd to get the tires from smoking completely off. That's how it's able to catch up to them in the 1/4. I can imagine that the De-Tuning process can be corrected, in time.
