Ford Focus ZX3 (2001) - My First Car!

Well, as the title says, this is going to be my first car, we are going to look at it in a few days.

As you can see, I drive around another car for now, just to get to school and back, but I am finally getting my first car.

Now we are going to the dealership to look at it, what are some things you recommend me looking at while there. The car has had some mods done to it (Hood, Bumber, Rear Bumer, and Side Skirt mods) and is a basic car with power everything, sunroof, cd, all the goodies.
They want 5,900.00 for it, which sounds good to me, and the car is in great shape with tinted windows that blend well with the black of the car.

Is this a good car for the long run? It has 63,000 miles.

PS. What are some great mods to do to the car, I don't have much money after payin certain things, but I would like to upgrade the sound system first of all, for my iPod, any suggestions?

I'm basically posting this to see what you guys have to say about the car and what are things I should do before I make the purchase, and things I should do after to make it a better experience for me.

Good for you!
I originally had a 2001 ZX-3 with all the bells and whistles except for the sun roof, and in some ways the interior was nicer than the 04 SVT Focus I drive now (the sun visors in the 01 were cloth that matched the roof while my SVT's are an ugly gray vinyl, and some other minor fitment issues).
It is a great car for the long run, I gave it to my brother at 55,000 miles and other than a TPS sensor going out on it I had no problems, and now my bro has it I think at just over 100,000 and at 70K he had to replace the clutch (I learned how to drive stick shift in it, so that was one tough clutch), so really it has been a very reliable car and he has no plans to get rid of it in the near future.

Mod wise, the SVT suspension kit costs just about $250 I think and a lot of people have it and recomend it, engine wise engine wise you can't go wrong with an intake, FC race header and exaust. ]

We are going to look at it on Tuesday (Tomorrow) and see if it is what it is...
If it aint, then I'm gonna have to stick with a Ford Mustang 2000 for the same price. But as soon as I get the car, I'll post some pics after driving it a bit.

I used to have a 2001 ZX3 which I sold at 33k. Never gave me an ounce of problem.

However, see if you can talk them down a little. I sold mine 3 years ago for 6500, and it had half as many miles. I'd think you could walk out of there for 5 even.

Well, I went and saw it, and it's amazing. Has the full effect, inside and out. There are a few scratches here and there, but overall isn't too bad. It drives really well and I have decided to go with it, now the only thing standing in my way is whether my credit will pass, so cross your fingers and wish me luck....

Whoa man this was forever ago wasn't it? Well, i didn't get the car at all. Later on I got a 1995 Aurora and glad I did, the interior is much nicer and it has a really nice cockpit feel, and it even accerlerates extremely fast (Power V8 running there). Sorry for all you Ford lovers, but you know, "There's a special feel, in an Oldsmobile!".
