Just get it down. My biggest regret was not buying one of those bad boys. Of course the price better be reasonable.

Well, to be fair there are reasons not to buy an SVT, most of us just don't see them as very good reasons. They depending on the smount of research you've done, this may or may not be new to you.

Downsides include but are not limited to:

-Flawed flywheel design, causing accelerated clutch wear and, if left untreated, transaxle damage.
-Questionable OEM engine management software, leads to intermittent electrical problems, studdering/stalling when cold, in many cases poor performance and/or surging when cold.
-Accelerated brake pad wear on OEM pads.
-DSI (dual-stage intake [manifold]) system is unproven for the most part; the little plastic clip that actuates the switchover tends to break.
-Generally a bunch of unproven technology in the car; cylinder head, valve train, internals, cams and the variable timing system, and the DSI system, were all (I'm pretty sure) one-offs for this model, and since the average age of the SVTf seems to be around 40k miles right now, nobody really has any idea how any of this will hold up. The transaxle is also unique in the US Focus lineup, its a German getrag transaxle which is a sealed unit for dealership maintenance issues, but they actually seem to be real bullet proof units.
-Tires are pretty expensive, if you get rubber that wont let the rest of the car down.
-02 & 03 non-euro rims bend easily, cheap to replace tho.

Most of the above problems can be alleviated in the aftermarket.

Upsides, of course, include but are not limited to owning an exclusive, limited run car (I see more M3's than I do SVT's), which some people enjoy. During its run, the SVT typically jockey'd for top-pick among compacts with the SRT-4 which, will less refined, is just balls-to-the-wall fast. The grip limits are pretty good with the car, but the actual handling (grip and handling, of course, are different things) is sublime, the chassis has very good balance for a FWD car, its stiffly sprung (by OEM standards) with a stiff chassis, combined with low profile tires and quick steering its very, very responsive to input. It could rightly be called "darty", it can get a little nervous and wander on less than perfect pavement.

I'm getting way more into this post than you need; there are lots of resources here and elsewhere, read some magazine reviews on the car, they were pretty fair. If the acceleration numbers look high, its because the car is hard to launch properly. With a good launch its quick enough, but straight line speed is not the car's intended purpose.

BTW, whats the price on the car?
