Help me pick a different car (new or used)

Hey all,

My car is in the body shop waiting for the insurance estimator to come check it out but it might be a total loss...
looking to get a different car if thats the case...

Do you guys have any suggestions for a used or new car that has decent power (at least 170hp+) and is affordable (under $25k)? Not looking to get a v8 car and not looking for a car that would have more than 45k miles on it...i looked at the 3.2cl type-s 6 speed and it looks like it fits my criterias...any other ideas???

Thanks for the suggestions,

can u even get a Type S CL in the US? I thought the Type S was JDM only.

I'd say the CL is nice, or maybe a newer TSX? Or maybe even an Accord Coupe 6spd

I'd also look at a used WRX 2.5RS, you can prolly find one with low miles, and in good condition for around 15-20k for a newer(2004+), 10-15k for an older(bugeye)

Actually, for around 25k, you can prolly buy a new WRX2.5 or base model.

If you're not looking at V-8's, why not a 6cyl Mustang?

Could you give us an idea more of the type of car you want? Hatch, sedan, coupe, wagon? Family hauler, cargo carrier, around town, weekend cruiser, track carver?

im looking for a coupe but sedan is not out of the question if it has good potential and lots of aftermarket....yea the make the 3.2cl type-s in the US but they only made 3500 6spd so they are pretty rare...i dont really like the wrx...would rather get the evo but then again i dont know if i reallly want a sedan and the evo isnt the prettiest inside if u know what i mean...the mustang is a domestic and im not reallly trying to go that route...thanx for the input and any further comments....

I still say since you're already looking at a HondAcura, that an Accord or TSX, or maybe even a TL would be good for you.

You could also get an RSX Type S for a little over 25k, base.

Maybe also look at an older BMW 3 Coupe, though BMW is known for expensive maintenance.

No domestics eh, well, lessee, we got lots of choices still, just not as many in the price range.

I understand the want of a coupe, but not a lot of mid-range imports are available in coupes

The other problem you'll have if you go used, will be finding a nice car with low miles in your price range. At least, thats the problem around here, it may be considerably easier in LA.

Let me think of it for a while, and consult my car dictionary. (aka, my head, I never forget anything about a car, but i cant keep track of the homework i was assigned ten minutes ago)

wrx and 2.5 rs are actually two totally different cars. the rs had a 2.5 NA engine while the wrx had the 2.0 turbo. coming from an svt you would probably be a little disappointed with the rs. that being said, i would definitely look into the wrx.

What about a used GTO? Just throwing something different out there, I personally like them, weight aside. IRS + LS2 = happiness for some.

EDIT: Also, what about a Mazdaspeed3? MSRP on those was, what, 22.5k or something?
