If you only have one key, your only option is to go to Ford. And bring some lube, because its something like $80+.

If you had 2, you can program your own.

You can probably buy the extra key from Ford or a maybe locksmith, but you can't program it yourself without 2 originals. If you only have one, supposedly only Ford can help you. Maybe someone here has figured out a way around this. I hope you get an answer.

I can get you a key and cut it but your dealer will have to program it.

My wife's purse got stolen a couple of years ago and we lost one of the two keys we had for her car (98 taurus.) We went down to the ford dealer and it took about 90 minutes and $125 to get TWO new keys for her car! The blanks are about $25 but the programming was $75!!

IF you've still got two keys for your focus, you can program it yourself, just get it cut by a locksmith then you can program the third key with the ignition switch; really.

Before I even rolled out of the showroom with my new SVT, I had a new key made.

It tells you in your owners manual on how to program a 3rd key if you already have 2......

If you only have 1 key, your pretty much SOL........you have to take it to the dealer and have them program it for you(you must use a ford computer to "break into" the security system and reprogram the keys)......

So, if you have 2 keys, go to the dealer, have them cut you a new, unprogramed key, go home, open you manual and see how to do it(I belive it's put first key in, turn to on position, turn off remove the key, insert second key, repeat 1st process, remove key, insert 3rd(NEW) key, repeat process).....

If you have one, call the dealer, setup appointment, expect to spend $75.00-$100.00.........

There is no secret way around the key programing, this is the way......

When I got my car, they had a locksmith come out to my house and program me a 2nd key the next day. They can do it. They plug something into the OBDII port and switch the key off/on and other nifty things. Took him like 10 min.

100% agree. I made a third key, and placed it in my fire safe.
