Interesting journalism about luxury cars.

2 separate releases came out today about luxury cars.. One is about Cadillac, one is about luxury cars in billionaires' garages... interesting stuff.

First, www.autospies.com leaked some Cadillac PPT presentation, that reveals that Cadillac apparently is the 3rd bestselling luxury make in the US (after lexus and BMW). In the disucssion of this finding some people claim some interesting facts, such as 405 of Lexus sales are the RX series, and if we do not count trucks, MB and BMW dominate over Lexus and Cadi.

Secondly, Forbes reviews the garages of the richest people of the world, and finds a variety of cars - from Porsches, to King Ranch, to 1988 B-truck or a 13 year old Volvo 240.

Interstingilly, no Caddilac, no Lexus.. One Acura, bunch of Porsches, two Lincolns. No Jaguar. except for the Porches, no exotics, one Hummer

No suprise to me. Most rich people invest in things that gain value, not things that depreciate, like cars. yes, there are collectible cars, but only wealthy car enthusiasts buy those. The majority of rich people do other things with their money.
Though he's not rich, my brother in law's wife's dad make $300k a year, and what does he drive? A Hyundai Sonata and a '98 base model Tahoe. My great uncle is wealthy and he drives a Hyundai Santa Fe.

Well, you don't get to be a billionaire by blowing it on fancy exotic toys. With the exception of the car guys who happen to be rich, most rich people don't seem to care that much about cars - it's just a way of getting from point A to point B. Also, although there are plenty of exceptions to the rule, old money tends to be the keep-it-simple type, and new money loves the blingy showy stuff that tells the world how rich they are.

wouldn't your brother-in-law's wife's dad be your dad?

This isnt all true...Gates owns a F50, in fact he has tons of cars. Paul Allen has around 40-50 cars with a guy who does nothing but detail them and keep them running. I went to his house for a job.
