mine isnt too shabby actually...and I am in CO.
Most people get a second set of rims and tires. Usually a set of 16" stockers from a zx3 with winter tires. I didnt have that kinda cash and have been running All Season HP tires and I am getting along fine

maybe look into All Seasons or a set of HP winter tires on tire rack.

Congrats on the new ride and to FocusFanatics!

With decent tires, they do just fine.

You'll want to check the branding on that 17" rubber; the Conti's look awesome, but the handling is supposed to be suicidal. The best description I ever heard was "handled like a hockey puck". If its rolling on OEM-replacement rubber, I'd wait for a clear(er) day. You'll feel like a real hero if you, oh, crash that car into, say, a tree...

...I wouldnt know or anything...

EDIT: oh, yeah, otherwise it handles just fine in snow, tho my throttle is real light from the TB, which robs some feeling on launch, I spin the tires more than I otherwise would. I got a set of 16" snows on ZX3 rims.

I am lowered, running the typical stock tires and we got 12 inches of snow yesterday. Aside from getting stuck in some ruts due to dragging, the car was perfectly fine. The front end acts like a shovel though which sucks but every time I got stuck, a simple back and forth 20-30 times and I was out.

^^^ Don't know for sure, but the best idea for a new/unfamiliar car is to wait until there's not much traffic, carefully make you're way to the closest large parking lot, and have some fun!
