NO.. The market for hybrids is limited. Just my opinion... I like the escape, but I would rather have it with a small fuel efficient diesal !!

The craze for hybrid cars is slowy, slowly coming. It will take a while though.

They need to make a FAST hybrid

Hybrids just don't appeal to everyone...plus, until gas is $5/gal, you won't be seeing any payoff for shelling out the extra cash for a hybrid.

IF, and I say IF, Ford can get the fuel efficiency that Honda gets out of their hybrids, people will start buying the H. Escape like hotcakes. If they got me 40-50mpg out of it I would buy one. I hate the styling on the GOOD hybrids (Prius, Insight) that get 60mpg. Give me a car that looks good and gets that mileage and I will buy it. That is the direction Ford needs to go.

What does the hybrid Escape get? 30-35mpg? That is not very good for a hybrid...Do better Ford.

I agree with a few comments. Hybrids won't be worth the extra cash for a while. One way to fight this is.. LOWERING THE PRICE OF HYBRIDS! A Prius is not worth $20k, drop that to $17k and I would have probably gotten it over my focus (sorry :( )

Gas won't hit $5 for a while, it's slowly dropping around me.

it is already popular..
it has several things going for it..
1) US made
2) Already popular vahicle - Escape
3) Good mileage
4) unti this year no competition (now there is Vue Green Line - but its H. system is much weake, and the price lower)

Overall.. Escape had a nice headstart on the competition...
Now it needs to keep it up ..

I say yes

ford DOES get the mileage that honda, toyota (lexus) get out of their hybrids...you just have to compare similiar vehicles! the lexus suv gets about 25-30, the accord sedan gets 30-35..etc...the prius and insight are smaller cars. if ford made a hybrid out of the focus i bet it would get the figures of the Japanese. 30-35 is great for a suv that normally gets 17-20!
