BIG GM TROUBLE... SUV's INCENTIVES AND REDESIGNED AVEO

http://www.autospies.com/article/ind...&categoryId=21
--------
AUTO SPIES EXCLUSIVE: So much for the idea that the new Tahoe's and Yukon's would be immune to discounts for the first six months

One of the biggest pieces of hype we heard in Detroit from the GM people was how the 07 Tahoe and Yukon would not be significantly discounted for the first six months or so because they anticipated the demand to be so high.

Well, it's back to reality for the General.

Most dealers we surveyed are discounting the new models significantly to move them off the dealer lots.

Check out this ad from Saturday's Arizona Republic:
[pic is below]

We followed up with this dealer (Midway GMC) and confirmed this deal was real.

But they were using false advertising tactics as well.

If you look at the ad, it also says 'And you keep the rebate'.

Unfortunately, for customers, there is no rebate on 2007 Yukon's.

We also called their sister Chevrolet store who told us that they would BEAT the $88 over invoice deal AND waive the $100 doc fee!

We smell low financing rates and rebates right around the corner...

---------------------

Oh well..

I am happy with Ford's Lease deals and sign and drive deals...

The Fusion trio is still largely undiscounted...
Obviously GM is not faring that well..

Who wants to bet the date of GM's bankrupcy?

Igor

^^^Ford corporate is still profitable, so I don't quite see that.

Imagine if they had taken all that money they spent on revising the big utes and invested it in new cars people want to buy?

Personally, I would consider purchasing a Solstice or Sky right now if they could just get some on the lots.

Big SUVS have become like crack to GM and Ford. GM thought that if they repackaged their crack, the addicts would keep on buying. Looks like a lot of them are kicking the habit now, thanks to the volatility of gasoline prices. You had better come up with a new playbook soon GM and Ford - the Japanese are laughing at you.
