Unhappy What's the point in having it?

I have the split fold down seats. If u fold only one half of the seats down, how does anyone sit in the other seat if the bench is lifted up? They can't! Besides those stupid cup holders (which used to be the only thing I didn't like about my Focus) this is the 2nd thing I don't like about my Focus. I just love driving it tho

You can fold one half down without folding up the bench. Thus allowing someone to sit on one half while the other half is folded down. Folding up the bench just allows the seat back to lay flatter.

It also allow for 3 passengers and cargo that might be long and need to fit.

I realize that but if u need the seat to lay flat u can't have a 3rd person. I guess I'm just nit picking (oh my gosh my mother used to use that word.) I just needed it one time and couldn't use it ...I'll stop griping now ( another word of my mothers

I don't think you are. Before I purchased my ZTW, I was just about to ink a deal on a ZX5.
One of the features I remembered was a split back and split bench. When I took delivery of my ZTW I thought they had installed the wrong bench because it didn't split like the back. I griped about it to my dealer wondering if they wouldn't switch out my bence for a ZX5 bench.
No deal.
My salesman took the philosophical view and said it may be one of those things in life I'll just have to make the best of. Well, I have and in actual fact, it hasn't turned out to be a big deal. However, it just seems "wrong headed" to me. Why not put in a split bench so you can throw the back all the way down and still have a passenger. Chain saw anyone?

Don't know if it made a difference but I think I was considering a Zx5 with the premium package.

Hotrod, just to make sure we are all on the same page here; we too have the "split folding, removable seat back....back seats" but Yellowbird and I are talking about the back seat bench . Does your bench also split?
Btw, don't know if my seat backs are removable.

the only focus that i have seen with a split bench is the SVT. now, why they don't do this in the rest of the foci is beyond me. stupid on ford's part, if you ask me.

No, that's not true, because my 2002 ZX5 had the split bench.
