Focus/Escape use alot of same parts/frame or no?

yesterday we had a 4dr ford focus and escape parked side by side at work. and boy do they look the same in size. I was then thinking maybe they use and or share alot of the same parts. Is this true. Do they have almost the same frames and such. Even if not i thought you could make a awd drive focus using escape parts. cut the floor pans out and ever thing else. they sizing wouldn't be too far of i think. how about it. think it's possible. i mean they look alot alike in size. use same 2.3 duratec and just the way you sit in them too. i am wondering. some one help me out. Anyone know if they do share alot of things. Thanks

I don't think they share that much... my mom's got an Escape and my Focus sits by it all the time. Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see much in common there?
