Car locks itself with keyless entry remote

My GF has a 2005 ZX3 SES with the keyless entry.
The other day, I unlocked it using the keyless entry remote and walked over to a table to get something before getting into the car and boom..... the car locked itself.
I thought that I was going crazy or maybe a ghost was messing with me.

I then tried it again.

Sure enough, if I wait about 10-20 seconds after unlocking the car using the keyless entry remote, the car will lock itself if I don't open the doors.

I tried this several times so it's not a fluke.

Must be some sort of security thing that Ford put on the keyless entry cars.

Maybe it's a new feature on the 2005 models or maybe it's available on other year Foci too.

Anyone else notice this on their keyless entry cars ?

Yeah I just verified as per my '05's owners manual. If after you unlock the door with the remote and no one touches either the liftagte, door handles or the ignition switch remains in the OFF position for 45 seconds the car automatically locks itself again (Seems like a screwy feature to me, but then again what do I know? )

you can change both of those features if you like. Read the manual for the steps to change it.

I posted on this about a year and a half ago, I'm not searching for the thread. Yep, it's 45 seconds.

It happened to me too, even when I leave it running. I have to leave the door open or the window down, it happens also when it's not running or I'm just sitting in the car.
On and off, doesn't matter, it locks.
