Made in USA

Mate,

See this archived thread which explains it somewhat.

http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum_a...chTerms=mexico

The US Focus hatch is made in Mexico, the sedan and wagon from Wayne, Michigan. It's cheaper in the US because it's marketed as a small cheap car relative to the rest of the market and has to compete with cheap asian cars such as the Civic. This hurts the US models because they have cheaper plastics and slightly less generous trims to make up for this lower sale price. Otherwise, apart from different headlight/indicator designs and larger bumpers on US models to meet US saftey regulations (5km/h impact with no damage) they are virtually the same car. Most prefer the European car though as it is German built, has a cleaner tighter design and is slightly more luxurious due to it being a premium medium car in Europe.
Engines are the same, apart from the SVT one which while the same power output as the European ST170 (170hp), is modified in the US.

The rest of Europe, Australia and Asia gets the original car, built in Saarlouis, Germany. Some examples are made in Valencia, Spain (sedan) and since July 2002, St Petersburg, Russia ( I imagine for Russia only). Furthermore, the Focus is manufactured for south America in Pacheco, Argentina.

Anyone know about Canada if it's the US version? I imagine so but may be wrong.

Hope that helps (coz if it doesn't, then I'm stumped )

As for the 2005 model, it's probably the Focus Cosworth, the ultimate road going Focus, but as yet, it's still unconfirmed and probably not decided whether it will leave Europe. It will probably be AWD as you said, based on the WRC Rally car, but will come in the next model cycle about 2005.

if you wanna spend that cash, thats a nice kit, also look up the LUMMA LRC kit, looks similar, the USAF reserve rally car which races in the SCAA here in the states has the same older style rally kit

they're so expensive ( i take it you mean the euro parts) coz they come from europe where they're already at a price premuim. If you make the best car then naturally you'll charge a little more for the car and the parts to warrant the extra desirability. That and they cost a bit to get sent to the USA as well.
