not ztec not se not lx just a 4 dr 2004

Can you guys tell me if I'm shyt outta luck on being able to make any decent power modifications to a 2003 focus that isn't ztec? It's just a 4 door sedan without the se symbol on the rearend (don't know what that means)... Any help for my ignorant a$$ is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

oops added a year to my car - I just bought it 3 months ago. It's a 2004 not a 2003.

Welcome Geminye, you probably have an SPI engine. There are a few parts out there but not too much.

You have an LX with the SPI engine. Some time after 2000, Ford stopped putting LX badges on the back, I guess to shave a couple of dollars.

well, is it the SPI first of all? bc i'm pretty sure the PZEV is an option on any level. could be wrong, though.

Not sure where he is located but the PZEV engine is required & standard only in the Green states of CA, MA, NY, VT & ME in 2003. The 2004 models have an option to get PZEV nationwide.
So, if he's in one of the Green states, he may have the PZEV. Otherwise, it's probably an SPI.

True, I didn't think of that. He could be living in a green state, and get a PZEV.

Does the engine have a scalloped valve cover, or just tons of wires and hoses?
