Thinking about buying an 03 SVT

So some local guy is selling an 03 black SVT with 105K. It's got two blown cylinders, which im assuming will require me to replace the head. Haven't gone to check it out yet but he only wants 2000 for it, sounds a little too good to be true. Any thoughts, comments or ideas!

I don't know man... bad cylinders may mean bad cylinder walls, depending on what made the cylinders go bad. Did the guy blow 2 pistons trying to burn the tires? And bad cylinder walls mean you'll need a new block too, not just heads. I personally would just replace the whole engine if that were the case. The valves and lifters went bad on my Duratec engine (the previous owner didn't know you had to change the oil, apparently) and it ended up being cheaper to just get a junkyard engine. Its a gamble man. If you dont have enough saved up to potentially do both the head and block, I wouldn't get it. If you do buy it, and the block is bad and you don't have to money to fix it, you're SOL. :/

Thats allot for an svt thats not running, it will cost more to fix then you pay to buy it, id get him to lower the cost id pay 1,000 for an svt thats not running, it all depends how much you want to spend, you can always inter change parts to a running focus however.

Yea i'm not too sure how the guy blew the cylinders. He says it still runs. I haven't gone to check out yet, Im going this week with one of my friends who's a mechanic too look at it and see if its worth getting. I might just have to pass it up and try and find one that's in better condition. I've been bitten by the SVT bug and want one super bad now. My regular old zetec engine isn't cutting it anymore!

800 miles isnt a little drive, especially not for a car that has 175k miles...

OP, get him to knock the price down a lot...otherwise see what else is available with in 100 miles of you, im sure there is something better.
