Open top motoring!!! Scored an MGB!!!

Yesterday I bought a 1975 MG MGB roadster for $3K off of eBay. Maroon with a black interior and soft top. 1.8 liter 4-spd manual transmission,76K miles. new Weber carburetor. The previous owner bought it for his wife 4 years ago but she didn't enjoy it apparently. She'll never know what she's missed. The tricky part is getting out to Michigan to pick it up(Greyhound/Amtrak anyone?lol).

Yes,I'm driving back to MA. I looked at Greyhound and Amtrak and it looks like Amtrak is the way to go ($86.00 one way vs.$126.00 on Greyhound). the seller lives halfway between Detroit and Toledo,OH so I'm going to take the Lake Shore Limited(daily Amtrak run between Boston and Chicago) to Toledo and he'll pick me up there. Flying is too expensive-cheapest fare was $286.00 one way to Detroit Metro/Wayne County(Toledo Express Airport has service too but that's even more expensive, and even then you have to fly via American Eagle from Chicago O'Hare).

Nice! Now you need to make a road trip thread with lots of pics depicting your journey/drive back home with it.

Nice car.

My advice, never, ever take a bus anywhere. I have a few 3 day bus trips under my belt and they were miserable to say the very least.

Black bumper MG There are kits to correct that if you wish to put a chrome grille and bumpers on. The lever shocks can be converted to a standard shock- and it's not a bad idea.

I've always wanted to get one of these from my old neighbor and convert it to a D23 and transmission from a Ranger. There is actually a ton of stuff out there for MGBs, and a fully restored MGB of any age is worth a prettier penny than $3k, so you got a good deal. The best part about it is that you won't depreciate, you will appreciate value with this car. Not many cars can do that.

Expect your Focus to handle better though, but 3 wipers!!!
