Hey guys

So I'm in the market for a new car. I got a new job over the last few months and my commute went from 100 miles a week to about 350 (95% highway). Needless to say, I need something with a little more efficiency. Right now, it's between a Mazda 3, Focus, and Cruze. Leaning more-so on the Focus/3 because of the hatchback option.

I've heard and read numerous complaints about the Focus' transmission. Is this something that has been fixed, or they are still playing grab ass over?

Regardless, I found a 2012 with 11k miles for 20,995 in the color I want, with every option. I'm looking to talk to the dealer sometime this week, but I have a major deal breaking question for the tall focus drivers...

Will I ride with a decent amount of comfort being 6'3" 280?

Edit: I will obviously test drive, but the dealership that has it is 40 miles away.

Found out I can get A plan pricing/financing on a 2013 focus ST... so, it still begs the question about how comfy I will be

Think about a Transit Connect has Focus running gear but with 'old' fashioned transmission
Gets 25 mpg

You will probably be OK, but only a test drive will tell. I am 6' 230 and I ride with the seat all the way back or on the first notch (if I am wearing sandals).

6'1"-255, I have '00 and '02, fine once you're in it. I feel great, not squeezed at all. They've made a lot of room in these little crackerboxes.

This is probably a personal preference, but unless you buy the ST a new focus probably isn't worth all the money. They are durable daily drivers, good on gas, but they don't retain their value. If you are gonna go used, don't do certified pre-owned. That's just my .02.

Well when I posted this I completely forgot my dad used to work at a Ford dealership, still talks to people that sell there, and my uncle works for Ford.

So I'm going to be getting a 2013 for the price of a used 2012. It's going to be brand spanking new, and I can't wait for the test drive.

Hopefully someone buys my Charger within a week or two so I don't have to take the trade in price.

Well, it's on order.

2013 Focus ST with the 201 package with power moon roof.

I can't wait! Now I just need/want someone to buy my car so I don't have to take the trade in price.
