Question on tinted windows

New guy here. Need opinions on window tinting. I have a 2010 white suede Focus SE sedan that I'm considering getting windows tinted darker. I'm kind of on the fence at this point whether or not to put out the expense. How long does the film last and does it fade with age?

Any good place will give you a lifetime warranty on the tint, I have my 12' done 5% all the way around with 3M tint, it's covered against fading, peeling, bubbling, and is even scratch resistant. I had my car 1 day and had it blacked out, to me it's just one of those things I feel has to be done, I can't ride around in a fishbowl...the darker the better and well worth the money.

Check local laws.
Check to make sure you are comfortable looking out a window with 5% tint at night. Consider while reversing, turning, etc.
Use a reputable shop.
Ask what brand of tint they use.

Thanks for info. Don't know if I really want to go that dark. Do you really notice a difference in interior temp during summer weather? I had a Ford guy tell me not to do it because he stated it would diminish trade-in value. He stated tinted windows screamed "young driver, driven hard". Not sure I buy that.

I live in Florida and it helps with the temp in the car, I don't know what that guy is talking about as far as trade value, tint can be removed fairly easily and isn't permanent, Hell everyone down here has tinted windows, even the older folks. As far as going as dark as mine, I wouldnt recommend it unless you are used to it, I have had every vehicle since I was 16 done this dark, and to me it's perfect but others that get into my car can't believe I can even see out of it. Just be safe with what you choose and find something that will not impair your vision while driving

I'd be inclined to say that 5% tint does impair your vision at night. Significantly.

I have 35% all the way around and I think it's worth it. I have a black car, so it's always hot as balls inside it, but the ceramic tint helps. Even with 35%, though, sometimes I need to roll down my windows at night while backing up or else I can't see what's behind me clearly.

I have 35% on the front windows and 20% on the back windows,it is legal here in illinois, the best thing I have done to the car so far!! It's nice knowing my kids can be doing whatever they want in the back seat without others watching. and the cooler temps are a plus also.

I've got 5% all around its been on the car for a few years and it looks like it has not faded at all.

I would/have never owned a car with out window tint. I like the privacy and that people can't see in your car at night for valuables.
