F-250 speed record

I was browsing Yahoo today and I came across this.

Ford F-250 (6.7L) set the a land speed record on 8/24. I thought that it was cool because they claimed that the truck was mostly stock. The changed the compression, fuel pumps and turbos. The block and tranny were stock.

They hit 182 mph which makes it the fastest production truck.

Here is the link for those who want to read.

I saw that the other day. I can understand it easily making the required power, the surprising part is that the stock transmission gearing would allow for 182 MPH.

My Saab had a 5th gear ratio good for almost 200mph... unfortunately it was limited to 133mph... and even with the governor removed could only hit 160mph.

LMAO, "mostly stock".
My ass it is. That's like calling an Evo with a GT4294x mostly stock, and that turbo on an EVO can make over 1,000whp, vs the 300ish they make stock.

But the speeds are very impressive. That's a lot of frontal area and mass to move.

This. When you start changing turbos and compression ratios, you're not really "stockish" at that point. Still impressive though.

An F-250 with the 6.7 liter diesel can tow something north of 12,000 pounds, or twice it's own weight, so I suspect the transmission and axles have some margin.
