Post What Focus to buy?

Well I'm new to the focus way of life, I'm going into my senior year and my life is about cars now i want one to match my personality, Ive decided my future focus will do just that. i don't have a huge budget right away, i can spend 3-4k on the car right away but i will have more money along the way. I wanna make my focus pretty fast, was thinking about installing a turbo and lots of other mods in mind for it. but what i was wondering was, whats the best focus that i could afford? keeping in mind i want to mod it to be fast but still a daily driver. if you all could give me your two cents that would be awesome, Please and Thank you!

The best focus for that kind of money would be an Svt. Any focus is really good but if you can find one, the Svt is the best stock performer.

By the way, welcome and hope you find something and stick around.

Find an 03-04 2.3L hatch. Fast out of the box and have SO much potential. Oh yeah and they're cheap as they're not an SVT. And not problematic. And cheaper to insure.

I'm not much of an engine guy but, yes, it is a zetec although Ford altered it over the stock foci zetec. No matter what, though, there are a lot of engine mods that you can do to an Svt engine such as adding a turbo. Lots of members here will be more than happy to fill you in on what you can do.

In your price range, you're going to end up with something that already has a lot of miles on it. It's going to be important for you to check out the vehicle as much as possible. It would be preferable that you find something from a private party who may be the only owner and has maintenance records.

That being said, I didn't find any hatches in my search, but here's a ZTS sedan with a 2.3 in it.......shouldn't be too far from you. It's a 5-speed, too. (Might be abit out of your price range, but you can deal...):

Any focus engine is a good bet except the SPI engines. They have a tendency to try to destroy themselves. The rest of the focus engines are underpowered but stout.

This^, I have both the Zetec 2.0l and 2.3l Duratec, I love the Duratec, it takes most late model Honda's with ease with a simple exhaust being done and CAI.

The 2.0l Zetec I also love because yea maybe it starts low for Horse power, stock being normally around 110HP at wheel, but they are easy and fun to modify. Also plenty of parts are out for the Zetec, way more then the Duratec, but even now the Duratec parts availability is starting to pick up a little.
