fuel filter misory

I have heard that the clips that hold the fuel lines to the fuel filter are hard to come by or don't even exist?!!!???

Well, I broke one of mine and am wondering if this is the truth. I just got off the phone with Ford, and they said they have them.

Does the guy I just got off the phone with know what he is talking about?

Well maybe.....I've see replacement Ford fuel line clips at some Advance and O'Rileys auto stores. I'm not certain if they'll fit without some modification, or at all. But the clips themselves do snap on a Ford fuel filter.

I'm just not certain if they can be made to work with the stock lines. But it's worth a try. I found them in a box of five for a few bucks.

Now if your '05 has clips like my '06.....you'll have to do more filing. Personally I think you could rig a temporary clip out of a small nylon cable tie.

This is why I don't change the filter myself.

And, for God's sake! Why the f@@k can't they put fuel filters under the hood anymore!!!

Sorry for the rant.....

lol what car has a fuel filter under the hood? i dont like the idea of that anyway, more likely to cause an engine fire, and the closer to the tank the more likely the filter will get the bigger elements trying to get into your motor.

however, i've done so many focus fuel filters i can do the clips without any tools, just my fingers. and i don't break them.

Older cars had them under the hood. I haven't seen that in a long time.

Get the clips from Ford. I couldn't find any at the local auto parts stores.

The newer clips are much easier than the older style.

as of right now, i just rigged up a temp. clip by using a thin/small zip tie. but the thought of a fire or leaking fuel scares me so i'm just going to fix it right

i'll have to order one from Ford

You all are too damn young.....

My '63 T-bird and '62 Merc Monterey had them under the hood, right on the fuel pump. Screwed on and off like an oil filter.

My '95 Sentra had one under the hood at the fire-wall. Replacing it was a snap. It had fuel injection, and a pump in the tank, that you service through a panel under the rear seat.

By comparison....the entire fuel delivery system of a Focus is a PITA.
