I've had one on my car for a long time. It's good for a cheap upgrade, simply purchase a 3.5" or multi fit cone filter and install on the end of the MAF tube after removing the stock air filter. It will take a novice about half a day to do since removing the stock air filter is not very easy. FYI: there are 3 bolts that hold the stock filter in place. Remove the 2 you can easily access, and pull straight back horizontally. That will save you the trouble of removing the plastic guard under the bumper.

Another recommendation is to purchase panty hose to put over the top of the filter. This will help repel water spray, and will not affect air flow. People who race offroad motorcycles use the same trick on their air filters. It basically does the same job as K&N's pre-charger.

You should also be prepared to clean your MAF within a month after installing the air filter. Oil used on the air filter to retain dirt will inevitably dirty up your MAF.

If you have the cash, then I'd get a real CAI instead of the Stealth version. K&N's Gen 2 plastic CAI is really the best you can get, and you'd notice a larger power bump as well as having a better filter location.

interesting..... I was just thinking of this: so basically it's remove the box (do you have to get under the car, or can you work your way around it?) and clamp on the new filter?

or in other words, I'm not talking about the CAI, but basically just an SRI makeup POS just because I can...

Rather than pulling the box out of the fender I spent 5 minutes with a reciprocating saw. The whole job took about 15 minutes.

I gained .16 seconds 0-60, .3 seconds and 4mph for the 1/4 mile.

I used a Passport GT2 Plus to measure the before and after results.

nice. now..... erm, why does the cone filter (per K&N at least) state that it's legal for racing only and not intended for street use.... and that I need to check local emissions laws, but yeah, how do I make sure of that for sure? mm I guess I could always go for a quick swap before testing...... lol that sucks for you Duratec guys though, you actually have yours mounted in the left fender well... ah for that matter, SPI speaking here...
