SVTF Fuel Tank Capacity & MPG?

Probably a stupid question:

Everywhere I've read specifies the SVTF fuel tank capacity at 13.2 gal (50 liters). I believe the owners manual even says 13.2 gal. But, the previous owner said the tank is 10 gal.

On my drive home after I bought the car, the fuel gauge was on empty. At the station it only took a little over 9 gals. And then last night the gauge said roughly 1/4 of a tank and it only took 8.66 gal.

I'm inclinded to believe it is a 10 gal tank.

On my first tank even with giving all my friends and family joy rides this weekend I got 28.6 MPG, so 30+ MPG seems very obtainable.

My car has 60k miles.

So the reserve tank must be huge, like close to 3 gal?

If it's really 13.2 that means you should be able to go 400 miles on one tank.

well the light comes on at 3ish gallons.

if you ran it empty...maybe youd see 360-370...

I too, am getting 32+ on the highway. The tank is def 13.2 but I've never run out. As far as the gas gauge goes, I know for a fact mine is "querky." Sometimes is works, sometimes it doesn't. I make sure to reset my trip meter at every fill up.

Side note: I have been working to see what kind of mileage I can squeeze out of the Focus buy shifting at 3k rpm and driving VERY conservatively. I will know in a day or two what kind of mileage one might expect.
