Broken Seat...HELP

Hey,
So y'know the handle that you use to flip the seat forward in the ZX3 so that people can get out of and into the back seat...well both those handles sheared off in my car. It's off warranty so the repair is about $600 Can. (250 parts, 350 labour) Freaking annoying. Has this happened to anyone? What are my options? I was thinking of just getting new seats, anyone know where to get them? Wouldn't mind some SVT seats if I'm going to have to spend money anyway. Does anyone know someone who wants to get rid of them?

I thought you could just get the handle...

Not sure. Mine never broke.

No, the handle is attached with a metal bracket...it sheared off at the base. You have to replace the whole part. This requires you having to and basically take apart the seat (which is why the labour is about 350).

Your cheaped and best option might be to call your local junkyard to see if they have a Focus you can scavange parts from. If you want to get new seats and know the brand you want, go to the manufacturers website and see if they have a dealer in your area...

Update: I took the car to a different dealership, they talked to Ford and Ford agreed to go 50/50 with me on the repair (my car is off warranty). The estimate from the new dealership was $340 compared to $575 from the other one. Just thought I'd let you know if anyone has the same problem Ford seems to know about it.
