extra key ?

I always lock myself out once a year.
I need an extra couple of keys.
Anyone got one from Ford ?
Price ?
I went to the Lowe's that just opened. The clerk said he couldn't copy a key because of the built in chip.
The owner's manual describes how to have an after market key accepted by the ignition.
Anyone gone through this ?

TIA

you can get a blank without the chip... go to a different lowe's and tell them you just want one that will open the doors. Should be like 10 bucks.

If you have 2 keys that work the car, you can program your own. Buy a blank, take it to Lowe's, and usually they will cut the blank for you, for free. Then you have to program it to the car.

If you only have one, well, you're boned. Off to the dealer.

A basic chipless blank to open the door won't cost more than a couple bucks, cut using your original. That's what I did at a superstore. It unlocks the door but can't start the car.

^ ya thats what I meant

another option if you are all into technology and whatnot is to get another remote fob on ebay. The upside to this is that if you lose it, you dont have to get your locks changed, all you have to do is re-program the car to only accept the one you normally use

Now that's interesting and @ $10 plus shipping.
How complicated is programming this ?

Could a 3rd fob match the 2 I already have ?

i got one directly from ford, depends on the dealership you go to, they charge differently. mine was $5.70 with tax at the one in Milton, i see you're from brampton so im gonna guess canada, unless of course theres ones in the states lol. anyway its just a door key, doesn't work in the ignition.
