Ever test drive a xios turboed SVT...and blow the engine????

This is ALL hypothetical and make-believe....

So a yellow EAP svtf shows up on autotrader in my area. This is rare, as my car is the ONLY EAP svtf I have ever seen in real life.

Fast forward, Its a dodge dealership and theres a 03 SRT-4 on the lot. I take it for a spin and was pretty unimpressed. It was a torquey car but left much to be desired, my procharged svt would have eaten it alive.

I spot the yellow SVT and the salesman tells me its turbocharged. NO WAY I exclaim, and we pop the hood. Low and behold its a xios motorsports kit, very nice kit (piping is routed strangely but whatever).

I take that out for a spin and get into some nice boost. I'm seeing 15 psi @ 4500 rpms, and it does pull like a madman...Keep in mind I test drive these cars solo, the salesman just chills at the dealership and waits.

Then the power just drops off at 6k. I think an intercooler pipe popped off maybe? I look behind me, smoke EVERYWHERE. As I slow down and pull into the dealer lot, the engine bay is billowing smoke, both oil AND coolant. Its running on 3 cylinders and then dies JUST as I glide into the lot. Cooling is spilling onto the ground, its still smoking...

And the salesman walks over and just asks, so...howd it drive??

I told him that "I think its driving funny" and walked off. I have NO clue how bad the tune was but man o man did I ever blow a hole in that piston. I havent heard anything since haha. O well, I suppose I saved some poor sucker from the same fate.

Anybody ever hurt/wreck a test drive vehicle??

haha, that would suck...i dont know what would happen in the test drive situation...some dealers ask for credit cards/debit cards in case you damage it...but if the turbo failed on a test drive, they shouldnt be selling a faulty car.

lol funny. whoever traded it probly knew it was going to shit and traded it in, and knowing that it was turbocharged they could sale it quicker and make some cash off of it, and you explained what happened for them doing it. lol great job

They only wanted 11,900 for it - 30k mile euro yellow SVT, full xios motorsports kit and a nice exhaust (not sure what manufacturer).

Now its a heap of scrap metal as far as their concerned. I have no idea how their insurance works, would be AWESOME if the insurance company writes it and someone buys it back for like 6 grand.

In reality it could have been saved by someone who knew what they were doing. They could have bought the car and babied it down to mcnews or tom and had the damn thing tuned. Then it would have been a steal. In my case I didnt give a shit really, I wanted to see how it handled in real-life balls to the wall driving. .... it didnt... lol

A friend an I took an new Escort out for a spin. The salesman was to too busy and let us take it. My buddy was looking at it to buy. Well he decided early on this wasn't the car for him, so he proceeded to drive it like he rented it. When we pulled back into the lot, we quickly got out of the car and met the salesman who was walking towards us about halfway. We gave him the keys, said thanks, and left.

When we got into our car, my buddy looks over at me and asked if I thought the saleman could smell the burning clutch from where he was standing...I told him I didn't know about the salesman, but I could.....
