in the most basic sense of the words,

torque is work
horsepower is work per unit time

more torque means you can push more weight a farther distance
more horsepower means you can push more weight a farther distance in a shorter period of time.

horsepower is torque times rotational speed.

This is why an svtf can walk on a s2k until the s2k hits 7000 rpm, then their horsepower starts to go nuts.

That's a little confusing, I understand the concept though.

horsepower is what gets you to speed quick, torque maintains it. they work hand in hand.
Lets see an easier way...
hp is what causes a car to accelerate quickly at a brick wall, torque it what causes it to force its way through (unless you hit a wall at ft knox, then your screwed either way).
but one without the outher is worthless

V-Tec = HP performance.

Duratec = Torque performance.

goinloco I think you might have torque confused with momentum. Momentum is a whole different animal, it is mass times speed.

accually that is backwards. torque gets you there and hp keeps you there. that is why drag racers go for torque over horsepower. and auto crossers got for horsepower.
