What I Drive: 2008 VW Rabbit

Smile Goodbye everyone for now...

Well I finally replaced my 2001 SPI with a 2008 Rabbit. I just wanted to thank everyone in these boards. The wealth of information on the focus was invaluable.

I was thinking about a new 2008 Focus Coupe, but the moment I saw it in the show room I was disappointed, the whole fake astonmartinish side chrome "vents", the inside of the door and dash was made out of a real crappy plastic that could be easily scratched with my nails, and the drum brakes (bleh).

Then I thought, no wonder Ford is losing all their money, why spend that much if I can get something so much better like the VW Rabbit for about the same price, so thats what I went with.

I really enjoyed my 2001 Focus, It was very reliable for a car I was always flooring all the time, that SPI engine is practically indestructible. But I could tell the quality of materials the 2001 used was much better then the following generations.

So until Ford gets it together (perhaps with a 2010 Euro Focus) I won't be returning to the Focus world.

Well say hi to my new car:

I dig it man!
I've always liked those cars.
Hope you plan to mod it. Looks like a fun car to mod.
Good luck man!

Wow, the interior is A LOT like the older focus interior, you should feel right at home.

This brings up another point, are there ANY other two door hatches on the market?

You'll like the power, that's for sure but why did you go auto?

^ new wrx.

pretty car, but not too quick for such a big engine, I can keep up with them.

enjoy the tiptronic and sport mode... and be careful with downshifting, theres a bit of a lag, and if you hit the gas at the same time you tiptronic downshift, ti will go down 2 gears and go over redline...

I chose the auto since there is wayyyy to much traffic here in Florida, coming from a SPI Focus this thing hauls ass. The 08 model comes with 170 HP 177 TQ stock... I belive its more around 140 to the wheels.
