Which Ford Focus should I get

I am a proud owner of a 2001 ford focus, but it is unfortunatly an automatic, and getting pritty old. I would love to get a new 5 speed but I cant deside which one to get. Does anyone know which one would be the best to turn into a tuner? Any help would be great

thanks

if i was replacing my 00 zx3, i'd go for an SVT or 2.3L zx3, since you said 5speed i'd say go for a 2003-2004 zx3 with the d23... hard to find, but oh so worth it!! your closest bet for one would be i california, unless you go for an ST which is easier to find and really sweet too( i'm biased towards the hatches, though)

I bought my 06 ZX5 with the GFX package (same as the SAP in the US), and i love it, since new i have lowred it and i love the look feel and handling of it.
I would have to agree though SVT is the way to go if you would like something a little older. ( I had to buy new ) The SAP kit is one wicked looking factory body kit, the car does not need much. Tint, lower, rims.

i think j-zetec hit it on the head, if you like the sedan look go for a st, especially one with the sap bodykit, well unless you plan on putting on your own , then it really doesnt matter. If you like the hatches svt or zx3 with the 2.3 is the way to go. even the 2.0 is great too though if you cant find the 2.3.

Just to clarify for you, some of the posts may not be clear,
the ST sedan comes with the 2.3 duratec,
the SVT comes with the 2.0 SVT zetec, which is very different than the standard Zetec engine, and in stock trim is far superior to the 2.3 duratec, though with mods the 2.3 can be better than the stock SVT.

if you want new get a duratec, if you wanna upgrade just to a 5 speed that is newer a svt is a great choice, if you dont mind a sedan go with st, best motor if your gonna mod it, if your gonna go FI ever svt all the way!
