Thumbs down '05 focus opinion...

stopped by my local dealership this afternoon to see if they had any of the new '05's. and sure enough, they had a ZXW and a ZX4. ...

1) that front end is a HELL of a lot softer (less aggressive) than the current. it's no wonder they did away with the SVT model... there is NOTHING that signifies "performance" from the look of that front the way it is now.

2) the interior... looks like the interior designers stepped back in time about 10 years when they put the new interior together. very flat, very boring, doesn't flow with the "focus" bodystyle at all. one thing i love about '99-'04 interiors is that the triangular style theme is very modern, and will not lose it's "newness" anytime soon. the new interior is very bland, and will look "old fashioned" by the end of 2 months ago (yes, i said "ago").

overall, i want to smack the designers of this new Focus. they could have done a LOT better. all i can say is that i'm glad i got mine when i did.

What's weird about the interior is that if you look at the european version (well, the UK version, anyway), they still have the swoopy dash.

This is one reason why I am skeptic about the new Focus. I am likin' the exterior a little but the interior...I dunno. The interior of the current Focus is one of my favorite things cause it looks so different then the other cars' interior's.

And I keep looking at Ford dealer's lots around here every weekend. Haven't seen one yet. But they have all the 04 Focus's and Mustangs sitting out in front trying to get rid of them.

Yeah, the interior sets the foci apart I'm more mad about loosing the cool dash and wicked eyes.

I've seen the new '05s. and I don't like the new front ends. it looks like a focus and a civic had a child. it's nasty lookin. i like the current foci fronts.

it looks to much like a taurus. it has that common car look that will just make it blend in with all the other cars out there. I'm not liking it.

Ford fixed the Focus but the problem is it didn't need fixing. The car was perfect, both the interior and the exterior. It had a modern/European design that made it stand out from the crowd. So Ford took a very original, beautiful looking vehicle and turned it into an everyday looking car. All Ford should have done was take the current car, and add some of the new interior features, like the cool CD holder, the sunglass holder (which you can't get with a moonroof), the charcole interior, and make the new 2.3L engine available across the premium models (instead of just the ST sedan). Instead Ford goes dicking around with the interior and exterior making them look plain and boring, and gives the hatchbacks whimpy engines again. Completely boneheaded move by Ford.

I'm glad I got the 2004 too, I would not be happy in the 2005.

i think the rear on the car looks good, but i agree on the interior. Its just to bland. I think ford is trying to appeal to a much broader market now. The car may be 'plain' but theat may mean more people will buy it (those that like civics, neons etc.). For myself... im driving my 2000 SE until the wheels fall off (i hope ford has tracked down all the quality issues).

The only 05 ive seen that i like is the one in the speed world challenge. I think modded they can be made too look good. But stock they are pretty friggin ugly. Better rims, painted grill and tinted headlights would go a long way on that car. I like the ST though, its pimp

150 HP ain't pimp. I guess Ford didn't want to hurt Mazda 3 sales. I rented one of those and they are awesome little cars. I guess for just got rid of the only product that they sell across their entire product line that I would ever buy.
