Test Drive

So I've been thinking about upgrading to a D23 Focus and there's a dealer with one on the lot not far from me. I decided to test drive it today, and I swear dealers are just retards. Granted I know more than the average person about a focus, but I hate how they just talk down to you like you know nothing. Granted I'm only 20, but I guarantee I know a hell of a lot more about cars than anybody at the dealer. And on top of that, when we started plugging numbers, they came up with a bull number of 2000 for my 2001 Focus with 87000 miles in damn good condition. I was pretty clear that I know what my car is worth and how much I could get for it from a private party and even as a "real" trade-in.

Well, now that I got that out, the car is noticeably more responsive than the Zetec in terms of acceleration. But when hitting potholes it was very loud, but I think that was because of the tires. I do have a question, and that is, is the clock in the dash always on 24/7? Because this focus definitely had it on all the time even when the keys were out, doors locked. Also, they're asking 8995 for it. It's a 2003 ZX3 with the D23 PZEV. Is this a good deal? Mind you, it does have some dings, significant tire wear, rusted out rear drums, and clunky front end links. I'm thinking I could talk them down to 5k cash after trade in.

Actually when I traded my 02 SPI focus, the trade in value was surprisingly high. They gave me 5500 for my SPI, And it has Power nothing on it; Just only the fact that I have altered the car's exhaust and intake, put some sport tires and kept it clean for 2 years straight.

They considered my car a dealer term called a "Unicorn," which means U really cant find this specific car in this good of condition.

Yes, the clock is on ALL the time. I doubt it will effect battery life if that is your concern. Mine is on all the time.
What dealer are you working with in MA?
I also know of a silver SVTF with high miles in that price range if your interested, its right down the street from me.

It was in North Adams MA. It's right in between home and school for me on RT 2, so on the way home for the weekend I decided to stop and take a look at it.
