To extend or not to extend...

My warranty that is.

My car is under warranty for another two weeks, and I was attempting to get a quote from a guy while having my power window switches looked at. He was busy helping someone else and I was unable to find out how much longer an extended warranty would cover me and how much it would cost. He told me to call him on Monday when I came back to have the repair done.

Did you guys extend your warranties? Did you think it was worth it or did you regret it? How much did it cost and how long did it last?

Thanks for your input!

I got my car used and when i did the warranty was pretty much done...so i got myself the extended premium warranty i believe. So far it's saved me a bunch of money...of course i had to pay a deductible (50 bucks everytime i go in) but that's a hell of a lot better then paying over 100-400 bucks for minor things. But it's up to you...if you plan on keeping the car for a while longer i'd say go for it...just make sure the extended warranty you go into is worth it...the powertrain warranty isn't exactly all that great and it doesn't cover everything.

The premium warranty that covers pretty much everything except wearable items only cost me some 20 bucks extra per month...so to me it was worth it.

I bought my car from an independant dealer and was financed through USAA. Any idea how much the premium warranty would run me if I'm not financing through Ford?

(I'm assuming that you are financed through Ford.)

I guess you'd have to call to find out...hopefully it won't be too much.

Yeah. Thanks for the help. I'll post the info I get from Ford on Monday here on the site for others in my same boat. That way, they'll have an idea of how much an extended warranty will run 'em.
