SVT Blues

Ok, check this out. I bought my SVT used in early Dec. It had some mods on it, CAI and an underdrive pully. I asked the sales guy if there were any more, he says no. So I ask if they could give it a once over and see what is not stock, they wouldn't. I also asked if they new the history of the car, like if it was a kid who owned it or if they could contact the seller. Well, he said it may have come from an auction so no. 3 weeks after I buy it the dealer says I have a new contract because the paper work wouldn't go thru so they had to lower the interest rate and make it ford certified. Awsome I say. Anyways, I take it in the other day because I'm hearing some strange noises and it sounds like the starter is turning over, but not throwing out the gear. Well, I get the call from the dealer saying the warranty is void because of extreme mods. WTF!? They say it had nitrous hooked up to it at one point. Well, that shocked me. I told them that it was certified, but they said they wouldn't cover it so I explaind how it was certified and they called the salesman. Come to find out the paperwork for the car said that it could not be certified because of the mods. But the salesman certified it. So, they have to make it stock again so it can be certified at the expense of the dealership. No big deal to take some mods off. Now my delima is, svt or not I would not have bought it if I had known it had nitrous in it. I am talking with them to see what they can do for selling me a vehicle and supplying false info about it, maybe put me in something else? what would you do?? I love the svt, but don't know if I trust the reliability, because I'm not sure how much wear & tear it has seen. If they will put me into something else I was thinking a ZX5 - baby on the way but still sporty.

Wow thats kinda sucky.... I'd see what they come up with and see how accomodating they are to your situation. Maybe an SVT ZX5?

Dont take this the wrong way or anything. Im also not trying to be anal either. But. Its kinda your fault. You should have looked for that ford certified sticker on that car. If it wasnt there and the sales guy said its certified. Thats fishy right there. He just wants to make the sell. As for the car having nitrous on it. I sure as hell wouldnt buy it. No telling what abuse its been through. I dunno. This was a really bad call...... However it ends up. Best of luck to you..

Wow, sucks man.

Some dealerships do pretty shady things just to sell cars, but you should be happy that they will return the car to stock and cover warranty issues. Most dealers would let you hang out to dry.

In my opinion, just keep the car until the warranty is just about to run out and then sell it. A car is just a machine and anything that breaks can be fixed or replaced. My 92 taurus w/116k miles on it is more relaible than my 2k2 gti - and i abuse the crap out of it. Imho maintenance is a more important factor in determining early break down of parts versus hard driving. - just a thought

Your only other recourse would be to report the incident to your local BBB and/or dept of consumer affairs, but that would put you on bad terms with the dealer. And if they're willing to take a hit on putting your car back to stock out of their pocket, i wouldn;t push my luck. - just my opinion

in 2000 i bought my first vw a brand new 2000 golf gls 1,8t loaded - for a great price - or so i thought - funny thing was during the summer, i noticed the LACK OF AC (even though it is not an option) - neither VWOA, or my dealer would help me. Went through all the local channels for help - nothing

whatever you choose to do, good luck and keep us updated

Well its one more nightmare story about another dealership and I cant help but say its no wonder car dealerships and the people who sell them have such a bad rep. I bought an 03 ZX3 at the end of last year and I had to go to numerous dealerships to acually find a ZX3 that wasnt fully loaded, anyway I found that in some way each dealer was lying about something. Those ****** guys are pathetic and there is no excuse for them. This is my fourth brand new car and I can say its the cheapest new car ive ever bought but it has pleasantly suprised me with its performance and quality. I dont blame you for not wanting to keep the car after hearing it had nitrous, I wouldnt either and if you can get into a ZX5 with a baby on the way that would be perfect. The ZX5 is a great car also just has a couple more doors. Anyway sorry to hear about your misfortune with these dishonest people and stick to your guns until they give you what you deserve.

Sorry to hear about this I know what its like to have dealership be morons (not to that extreme but I know). I hope everything works out for you. I would really be mad about this. The dealer wouldn't research the car then they certified it when it shouldn't have been certified.

Man that really sucks, sorry you have to go through this headache. I could have sworn that if you demand to see the cars history, the dealer/seller automatically has to fork over a report, but who knows. I had bout a 1999 eclipse in 2000 and i had seen it sit on their lot for like 6 months ( not on their selling lot, but around by the service bay) I had asked about it and the salesman told me that the car was going to be on their used car lot shortly , they were just so backed up that they havnt gotten a chance to pull it in the shop and go over the car yet....... i should have picked up on the BS right there because there is no way it would have taken 6 months. Well i ended up buying the car and a year or so down the road I tokk it in to get some vandalism fixed and the repairman called me in to ask if i knew the car had been in a serious accident before... WTF?! and the car was so gangsta rigged just to ride on the road that the exhaust was actually burning a hole under my car.. RIGHT BELOW THE GAS TANK! Damn shady dealers! But now I have my sonic blue baby and all is good. Everything will work out one way or another, hang in there!

KoRnGtL15 when i got it, I knew it wasn't certified, but it only had 18,000 so I didn't care. So, when he called and said they certified it that was better for me, so I thought. I should have it checked out somehere else but, it was an svt and thats what I wanted. Well, it is ready all stock again.(now its certified) I am still talking about what they can do for me since this wasn't disclosed in the sale. I'll update when I find out.

Are they "Blue Oval Certified"? If so, definitely at least let Ford know what happened.
