Quick o2 cheater question...

all o2 cheaters work the same way, right?
do they all plug in the same way?

im just curious why its 35 dollars on CFM and 7.50 on ebay...will the ebay one accomplish the same thing? seems like a fairly simple idea, not sure why it would cost 35 dollars anyway...

thanks, sorry if this is noobish or in the wrong area
Ebay mil eliminator

also, i think i might just build one...is this right (scroll to the bottom and click the link in step 11):
MIL eliminator plans

I have no idea if it would work or not, but it would be very simple and very cheap to build your own if have access to a soldering iron. You could pick up that resistor and capacitor for probably $0.50 total.

i still have the cat right now though...how can i test if it works or not...just pull out the sensor and let it dangle? that would trigger a CEL, right...would the cheater turn it off in this case or willi have to wait till i get rid of the cat?

I don't see why it wouldn't...

Wouldn't that just make the car think that perfectly clean air is all that is left after the cat? Isn't the whole idea to detect excess fuel or other emissions in the exhaust gasses?

As for the how-to, I found this on another forum. I think you have to be a forum member to view the pictures, but it definitely makes the pictures in the link that the first guy posted make way more sense (to me at least).

I work in an electronics lab with a full soldering station and a complete supply of high-grade components (ie the resistor and capacitor needed for the cheater...). Maybe I should buy a bunch of 02 sensors from the Ford parts shop, make a bunch of 02 cheaters and sell them to you guys haha.

im fairly convinced that i should be able to make my own O2 cheater with no problems...i have seen the same diagrams and explanations on multiple sites...

first problem, i could not get that stupid O2 sensor off for the life of me...i got an open ended wrench that fits...but its all rusted on so i couldnt get the thing out...ive heard it might be easier if my car is warmed up first?? is this true or bad idea?

We used to throw a torch on bolts that were really stuck to help us get them off, so I suppose that the 02 sensor bolt might be easier to get off when it's warm as well. I would also recommend spraying the nut/bolt with some WD-40 or another "penetrating lubricant". Probably best to be careful to not get WD-40 on the sensor though... After that, try throwing a little pipe or something similar on the end of your wrench for more leverage, and pray that the bolt doesn't snap haha.
