Black Stallion woes

Around November of last year, I wanted a truck to serve as my project. My plans were to drop in a GM Ram Jet 350, TCI Streetfigther tranny, Auburn Gear electronically-controlled differential, and other trinkets and doo-dads. No too long after I got it, I did the routine tune up of new new plugs, wires, distributor cap & rotor button, filters, and so on. When it came time to change the plugs, I noticed one of the plugs was being a particular pain in the ass to get out. Fearing that I would break it off in the block, I tried to un-torque it gently. When that failed, I got my two-foot breaker bar, and got the sumbeech out of there.

I noticed that as I attempted to screw in the new plug into the aforementioned threaded hole, it didn't tighten. I kept turning anf turning, but it never tightend. "Damn." The threads were stripped in the block, and there was nothing I could do. The plug was snug enough in the hole to where it seemed that it would be okay. I fired up the 350 and she ran just fine, aside from an exhaust leak that was there before.

Two days ago (four months later), I was headed back to the plant from lunch. I stop at a stop sign, looks both ways, and pressed the accelerator. BAM!!! I heard a sound much like that of a gun, and quickly pulled over to the side of the road and switched off the ignition. I pop the hood to find that the plug had shot out of the block and was dangling by the wire. "Damn." I pull the plug (which looked like it had been installed by the facotry 13 years ago) and wire off of the distributor and crank it back up. It makes the most ungodly noise I have ever heard, and It's loud as .

I slowly drive it back to the plant (which is about two miles from where the incident occoured) and I am getting looks from everyone I see. It is so embarrasing. Later that afternoon, I decide to drive it all the way back home (approx. 13 miles from my workplace)...don't ask why. I make it about seven miles, when finally the truck can't take anymore, and just dies. My guess is the ECU just couldn't take it anymore. It stays in the same spot for one day before I call a tow truck to come get my baby. He drops it off at a repair shop, where it's currently waiting for some TLC tomorrow. I know it'll be expensive, but I freakin' LOVE that truck.

There's no real point to this story...I just need to vent I guess. I paid $160 for ONE tire last week, and now this. Oh well, you know what they say: "When life gives you lemons, go push down an elderly woman" or something like that.

I feel your pain brother. This was my pride and joy before my focus. I bought her from a loving old Belgian man who fought in WWII and came back to Texas with his division. He had just rebuilt the motor with his son 4k miles before I bought it. I only had it for a year before I was on my way back from a neighboring school in Dallas with some free photo equipment they were giving away. On my way back in the middle of rush hour she started to lose power slighty, I checked all the gauges and nothing was wrong then there was a slight knocking. I prayed just to make it home but then the motor suddenly lost power and died and of course as soon as I come to a stop on the shoulder then the temp gauge goes through the roof and I had to call a tow truck. Turns out she spun a rod bearing and the shavings clogged the oil pump and cause her to over heat. Eventually we got her back to my house and put her up for sale since I didn't have the money to get it fixed. It would still start and idle but had a gawd awful knocking noise. I miss her so much.

Edit: Sweet truck BTW. You should slam it.

Nah...I've got too many things on my plate right now to be worrying about another car. Maybe later when the old lady isn't so pregnant, and we have all of our finances straightned out. Besides...I'd rather have this than the Focus anyway

Anyway, I called the guy at the shop today, and he siad he would probably have to detatch the motor mounts, and jack up the engine about 6 inches to drill out the hole. He siad it would cost around $200, which was less that what I had thought.
