Alternators, WTF?

My alternator went out on me today Everytime I get a Ford the alternator goes out. What is the deal w/ that? I got stuck in the turn lane at an intersection for like 5 minutes. I was so pissed off. Luckily after about 5 minutes it decided to start long enough for me to pull over on the side of the road. I was almost an hour away from home. Luckily two days before this I got my AAA plus membership. Didn't cost me a dime to have it towed back to my house. The guy almost couldn't get it up on the truck though b/c of the front bumper. I hate alternators!!!! This is probably the 10th alternator that has broke on me. Not in the focus though.

I know that experience... Mine took a dump couple months ago and I had to pay $100 bucks to get it towed to a mechanic near my house. I ended up paying over $400 bucks total to get it fixed. Ugh. Mechanics in NY are the #1 Scam Artists. Hope you get it fixed soon and get your focus back on the road. Your car looks good btw. Get the bumpers painted though!

Any city (even a small one like the one I live in) will have shops that rebuild alternators. Look in the Yellow Pages for Alternators & Generators Auto Repairing. Have your old one rebuilt and (trust me) it will be better than a "rebuilt" from an auto parts house. Just this week I had the alternator on my son's 86 Honda Civic Si rebuilt. It cost $90 for all new innards (hey, it was 21 years old and had 205K miles on it) and it is guaranteed for 5 years. Check it out.

I had it fixed that night. The new alternator cost $144. Took maybe all of 15 minutes to fix. I still hate alternators though, LOL.
