The car of tomorrow today? (Read this one.)

I don't know what happened to the first post.

Anyways. I found this website a few years back and just found it recently going through old book marks. So I thought I'd share it with you guys.

http://www.driveev.com/jeepev/home.php

Basically this guy takes an old XJ and converts it to electric for a school project. I thought it was pretty cool although I'm sure it's not cheap, but maybe the cost would offset with the $0.04 running cost per mile with the electric motor than the $0.13 per mile with the gas engine if you have a short commute to work. It honestly doesn't look too involved if you have the right tools and some good connections. He can only get about 35 miles per charge with the jeep, but I would like to see someone try it with a possibly smaller more efficient car like the focus.

What do you guys think?

I think it's something around 63hp with over 110ftlbs of tq, but atleast it doesn't need rev time. It pretty much keeps those numbers from 0 rpms up through ~5k.

Also here's a list of links from the site that has many more pages with more info and places to get all of the components to do it yourself.
