Best Hitch for ZX3.

Hey gang.

I'm about to purchase a hitch for my 2002 ZX3.
I'll be towing a 500 lb motorcycle with a single rail 140 lb. trailer that has a tongue weight of 120-160 lbs, depending on the size of the bike.
I think my bike would put the tongue weight at about 140 lbs.
From what I understand, the ZX3 will not have a problem towing this weight, and I shouldn't need anything more than a Class I hitch.

I've been looking at the following brands:

Draw-Tite
Curt
Valley
Hidden Hitch

They're all very comparable in price, and they seem to all be sturdy.
I don't really know if there is much of a difference at all.

If anyone has ANY experience with ANY ZX3 towing, I would really love to hear some suggestions.

I'm also a little concerned about the mountains we may be traversing.
We'll be towing the bike across the country, we're looking at about 7,000 miles, and we'll be going through some rather mountainous regions.
Should I be concerned?
We're planning on taking it slowly, regardless.

Lastly, does anyone know the approximate height of the hitch receiver from the ground, once installed?
The trailer I'll be using has a 12"-14" ball height.
Just wondering if I would need a drop or raise in drawbar design.

Again, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, everyone.

- George

Wow.
I guess no one's ever towed with their ZX3.

I hope I can do this.

Hitches

I think all 4 are owned by the same company. Hidden does not make one for the zx3. You can use the sedan for the zx3 but the dont offically make one for the hatch at least it was that way for my 05. I have the Draw-Tite for my bike rack. i have never towed with it. I would contact all the companys if you have any questions.

I have a Hidden Hitch on my sedan...works great!

I've towed a nice 6x8 utility trailer with a couple 3-wheelers on it no problem.

i can go measure the height in a day or two from the ground to the ball if you'd like...

Thanks, Silas.
I ordered the Draw-Tite.
It was the best price.
I'm going to install it, then I'll measure the height before I buy a draw bar.
If it's not too much trouble, a measurement would be very appreciated.

Thanks again.

anyone seen that video of a metro or something pulling a 5th wheel. goes up the hill then comes sliding down the hill and crashes...lol. sure the focus has more power than a metro though.

Heh.
I'm also towing a 500 lb bike with a 140 lb trailer.

If you're trying to make me feel more confident ... try harder.

Towing

Would anyone out there recommend to use a ZX3 for towing?
I' have to tow a 600lb ATV

Or should I rent a pick up truck?

does anyone have a picture of any of these hitches on their car? I'm looking to get one for my bike rack and was wondering about how it "fits" with the bumper.

also, if you have done this, do you recommend welding, or just using the hardware?
