Asim SVT170!

Hey guys! So I've imported an extremely clean ST170 from Germany a few weeks ago, instead of buying a cheap broken zx3 as a donor car and popping everything from my poor wrecked SVT into it.

The weather is really poor these days, but I'll try to take some decent photos as soon as I can!

The car is in great condition, I had to replace the rear bushings, and get an alignment (which was done poorly and the steering wheel is off center just enough to get me annoyed, and either I'm paranoid or it pulls juuuust slightly to the right when driving). I couldn't register it yet, because I need to get the car ''road worthy'' and I didn't pass the inspection because I had no window washer fluid. Also, I've put the Recaro seats in, and now the airbag light is on (obviously, as the new recaros have no airbags in them), so I've dropped the car at the shop to get that fixed. As soon as I get that off my mind, I'll get the car properly registered, and then I'll start taking my SVT apart, fix the SVT bumpers, paint them imperial blue, and put them on the ST! Can't wait for that, because so help me god, one of these days im gonna take the euro bumpers off, and burn them.

So far I only had time to **** around the car for a few hours, so I swapped some tiny little plastic pieces from the SVT, swapped the steering wheel, the carpets in the rear, and placed the sub in the back, too.

The ST170s have this cheeky little hidden disc changer under the stock seats!

Good thing my tiny garage is a focus scrapyard by now, so I literally found every little shitty plastic piece that was missing from the car. My OCD is satisfied.

All I need is this thing, but I can't find it anywhere. I guess I'll have to keep my eye on ebay.

That's it for now, I'll be sure to get some decent pictures as soon as possible, and post the progress on the car, too!

Disk changer is in a funny spot! Took me a minute to remind myself where I heard about importing an ST170. Then I remembered! Looks good!

Finally got the car registered! Couldnt get the square plates though... I have to prove the worker that the euro plates wouldnt fit, so I only managed to bullshit my way through for the rear plates... Now I'll have to put the svt bumper on, and go and register the car again sometime, because it looks kinda dumb. I've started taking the SVT apart, gonna try to fix the bumpers ASAP, get them ready for paint!

The svt bumper ir just cracked in a few places, nothing too bad, same with the sideskirts, but the rear.. oh jeez I have no idea how am I gonna put that pile of legos back together.

Washed and cleaned the whole car today! Made a custom holder for the cd changer to sit under the recaros, and finished a few annoying things on it.

Here's how it looks!

God I love these seats...

SVT steering wheel

I decided to make all these photos before I make changes on the car, so I could track the progress!

Now I also need some advice on a few things, and also a few questions.

How can I fix this? I get that it's not a vacuum in there, but does this mean that there's just a hole tiny somewhere around the seals? Should I just remove the front part of the headlight, clean it, and put it back on? I've heard someone say that it's not a good idea, but I can't see anything bad happening, unless I snap the lightbulbs off or something.

Oh, and also, can anyone tell me what does the second cable do on the SVT? Is the throttle body different? The SVTs have two of these cables going in, and the STs only have one... I thought maybe only mine has one missing or something, but it turns out every ST only has one of them. Weird.

And does anyone know why the hell does my trunk light is ALWAYS on? I had the same problem on the SVT, so I took the lightbulb out, and never got around to fix that, and this one does the same shit! I figured that maybe it's a common stupid problem on these things?

I'll make sure to change the timing belt, pulleys, water pump (?) and oil next week, just to be safe, and start saving up for coilovers, new rims, bolt in rollcage and harnesses, so I'm hoping to post the updates really soon!

Anyway, thank you in advance for any advice, thoughs and help with this car!

It's 7PM here in Lithuania, I just got back from the garage, and as I'm writing this post, Im thinking I'll take a quick shower, grab a gopro, and go for a ride on some empty roads outside the city!

the extra hole on the throttle bracket is for cruise control which was never fitted on ST170s, and unless you will driving the car regular ona track I would not bother with coilovers as its way too harsh a ride for cruising etc

As to the light on, do you get a door ajar light as well?

If so, it's the switch in the latch & might be OK again with latch lube and making sure it fully opens so it can latch again completely when closed.

I'm planning to go on track days, but also the rear sits like AT LEAST 10cm higher than the front of the car. It hurts my eyes. Then my OCD kicks in, and I can't sleep at night. My SVT was the same, but I see a lot of SVTs on here that have perfect or near perfect stance. I wonder if my front suspension just gave up... So the coilovers will eliminate that, plus the handling! And if I'm gonna put wider wheels, the coilovers will help with fitment, too. Plus, nobody really buys these cars for the ''soft driving'' part, do they?

Nope! No lights or anything, just the trunk light, it's on all the time. Maybe it thinks the trunk is open or something.... I took the bulb our for now, gonna get that fixed when I have the time.

I wonder if I can swap the whole throttle body and connect the cruise control on the ST... don't like those, and would never use it, but just knowing that the buttons on my steering wheel don't work, annoys me.
