2003 Focus SVT "Blue Bomber"

First off, Hello!

Alright to start off, I bought a 2003 Ford Focus SVT mid 2015. The car was in pretty dang good shape when I bought it had no leaks no real problems that I noticed so went and bought it, drove it nearly 1000 miles in the first month and still no issues and now I'm just working to restore some of it add my own little touches and do some upgrades.

Plenty of plans but I'll go over what I've done so far.

First of pictures of the outside of the car. Has plenty of dents (most likely hail damage) and a lower crack on the front windshield, no visible body rust. just paint wear on the front and rear bumpers.

Alright let's get started with some basics

August 2015

I wanted to have my own audio input for the car but didn't want to replace my system or do the wiring for a new headunit, plus I've never liked the looks of any aftermarket unit and I'm rather fond of the originals looks. So I went out and bought a kit that allowed me to plug straight into the back of the radio and do a direct RF line. worked out great since I have a portable USB powered amp with about 50+ hour life on it that I use and charge on occasions. (I'll take pictures of this soon)

November 2015

A few things to cover here, My valve cover paint was chipping something fierce so I wanted to redo it and I had plans to do the exhaust wrap and decided I would knock them out over the course of a few days.

Originally painted in a base blue until I could find the proper sonic blue, which I found about a week later which was perfect since I could use it as the final coat.

Final coat and the exhaust wrap, also grinding off the stubs for the heat shield.

And also replaced the old filter that came with the car with a new one, since the old one was in such terrible shape it wasn't worth trying to restore it, while I did this I also did the MAF cleaning.

Novermber 22-24 2015

My thermostat housing failed or the o-ring in the plug, either or, So 22nd-23rd I went on here and started reading about as much I could for the replacement and found the Contour one, after calling around local auto stores trying to find the one that would actually fit I managed to snag one, This will only be a temporary solution since I need the car to be able to visit family in a few days. (I do know about the failures of the stock SVT ones, and I think I found the one everyone spoke of)

I'll be installing the part tonight or tomorrow morning, I'll take pictures as there is never enough pictures for everyone to use as reference, (namely for me, I spent hours trying to find a picture of the housing to see which models had the hole on top for the SVT and which ones had it sealed) And I believe I finally got the right part, I'll see once I start to put it in.

Part # 902-200 *Autozone* (website shows the hole is sealed, part I bought is not, has both the top for the sensor and the bottom open, and was found going through the 2000 contour searches).

images in coming soon

So things that are up and coming soon/very shortly.

* Engine mounts
All of them, the dogbone(torque) is nearly dead and figured I might as well replace all of them, been looking at doing all FSWorks parts for this.

* Clutch/Flywheel set
I have a slight tap only when the clutch is engaged, at first I thought it was possibly the push bearing, but after a lot of reading and video checks I've come to find it's most likely the DM flywheel, it's nothing bad and hasn't gotten any worse as of late. But this is a priority job for me.

* Timing belt/set+belts
Another one on my hurry to do list, I have no clue when the last time the job was done so I figured it won't hurt to do it, I've done a replacement in the past but only on a SOHC engine and I've heard doing DOHC is pretty difficult, I have only torn a DOHC down (B18) and never got the chance to put it back together so I know the tearing down process pretty well.

* Basic Maintenance
Plugs + Plug wires
Fuel Filter
Brake pads + rotors

* Possible upgrades/swaps
FSWorks catback
Swaybar F+R
Euro Center console, I'm debating on this, I've thought about fabbing both of them together into one piece, front of the euro and back of the USDM.

I'll be doing a lot of biking this spring so I'm debating on doing the rear seat delete and making the brackets I saw here, I would be keeping the seats so I could put them in if I ever needed to, but it would be fully carpeted on the delete.
