The ones in the 90's had a Flaireside badge on them.

'85 was still a "real" stepside bolted together from pieces.

Tail latches & chains to hold it when down.

I replaced the battery cables this weekend. Really exciting I know. The old cables were so rusted they only conducted intermittently, so sometimes the truck would start, and sometimes it wouldn't. Replaced them with new battery terminals and cables and they work perfectly.

I had the battery tested while I had everything unhooked, and while it certainly is not a new battery, it is surprisingly strong. So that is one less thing I have to worry about for now.

I also went to the Good-Guys car show in Northern Colorado this weekend. Saw a lot of really cool cars, and a lot of great looking trucks. Got a pretty good idea of what I want to do with my wood bed. I am thinking about going with trim that matches the color of the truck and a light colored wood. Something that looks like a pine but is more durable. I have considered using something like Trex decking, so I would not have to worry about staining and sealing it in the future. But they don't have a product as light as I would like to go.

I was thinking about something like this (with painted rails instead of chrome):

That would look awesome. I wish I had the time/money/space to buy an old vehicle to just tinker with

I don't have the time/money/space either. But it has always been a dream. So when I sold the focus, a portion of the proceeds went to the truck. (Though if my wife had any idea how much $$$$ I want to eventually dump into this thing, she never would have let me buy it...)

If you have a dream, you have to pursue it, not wait for it to come to you. I worked and planned and plotted for the last 4 years to make this possible...
