My MX-5 Miata Build

Started out as a stock unit that I picked up for $4,500 with 72,000 miles. The reason I got it so cheap, was because the former owner was filing for divorce and needed to sell it quickly lol. So of course, I jumped all over it since I have been wanting to get a Miata for quite some time now. I could have gone with a NA, but I liked the curves of the NB much better. First picture is how it showed up in my driveway.

After I cleaned it up a bit and added the dreaded front plate(Ohio requires it) I took it out for some pictures.

Stock interior:

First modification I did was remove the stock exhaust and install a Borla dual exhaust with a Flyin' Miata mid-pipe. The mid-pipe is to be installed later after I go turbo.

The next thing I did was add a Thompson-Automotive oil filter relocation kit since getting to the oil filter was a pain in the ass before. Now the oil filter sits behind the headlight on a special mount instead of being hidden under the intake manifold. Also replaced the dirty stock air filter with a brand new K&N panel filter. But that's not pictured.

Made a few changes in the interior by replacing the worn out Bose head unit that had the black digital numbers and lines disappearing. It still worked, but I could never tell what station it was on, or what the time was. So I replaced it with a simple Kenwood head and of course it needed to have Ipod and a USB connection.

Leather interior is fine during the winter, but during the summer us fat guys tend to sweat and stick to the seats lol. So I gave Wet Okole a call and ordered a set of quality Neoprene seat covers from them. I must say that the fit and finish is really stellar on these and I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Another addition to the interior was that I had changed out the old worn out Nardi shift knob for a solid aluminum Voodoo textured black shift ball. Along with the shift knob, I also got the Voodoo parking brake handle as well.

On the outside I haven't done much yet except for changing out the brake pads with Hawk Racing HP pads all around. I bought some summer wheels along with some new tires as well. 15x8 Konig Flatout with 205/50/15 Dunlop Direzza DZ101. The wheels turned out fantastic looking, but the tires left me wanting something different. But I will keep them for now until I burn them off eventually lol

Only two other things that I had added to the exterior was a Thompson-Automotive disappearing plate mount. I have always hated having a plate mounted on the front, so this works out great for better airflow into the mouth of the front bumper. This will also come in handy later down the road for my intercooler.

Got tired of the wimpy "meep", "meep" horn that was supplied by Mazda, so I replaced it with the Nautilus twin air horn from Thompson-Automotive.

This summer I am going to be adding some other modifications which includes new Tein Mono Sport coil overs, SuperMiata sway bars, Hard Dog Ace Rollbar, Project-G Bikini top, RyokuRob's tow hooks, Moddiction's blue convex side mirrors, MiataRoadster's short shift kit and Flyin' Miata's Voodoo II turbo kit. Many updates to come, so stay tuned!

I'd love to have a Miata some day as a weekend autocrosser. Such fun cars. Love yours!

It's definitely a fun car to drive. Not to much fun if you're over 6' tall though.

I've seen some older ones in nice condition at decent prices, but you've gotta be lucky - kinda like catching a clean SVT.

That looks great Don, seat covers worked out VERY well. I'll keep those in mind.
