Last time I was there I nearly got some of the stockers like these http://www.theautochannel.com/autopa.../zob96632f.qkt I want to get them and spend way more than half an hour on them, and use the anthracite dip.

Idk who bid against me at the last minute this morning, but I ended up getting a MAC shorty on ebay today. Now I need to figure out where to find an *affordable* gasket.

Nice!
Will the gasket cost more than the header? I hate it when that happens.

Dude, wow. Like a carbon copy, I like it. Did you do the front and rear lower parts of the bumpers in black or did the come like that? I'm gonna dip the lower part of the rear, and get a mach 1 lip for the front. I'm loving the SVT wheels on that too, anything seems to be better than the stockers on these lol. Nice!

Weekend debauchery: header party!

I finally gave in and bought this header that's been floating around on ebay for some time now. It's listed as a MAC #92102, I can't find an awful lot about it but of all the shorty headers I've seen I think it's one of the best designs. I'm still not positive that it IS the MAC part, or that it hasn't been rewelded or messed with, but all the welds look very good and it's solid.

It looked to be only very moderately used, and I'm not even sure if it was really driven on because of how clean it was and how much of the ceramic coating seemed to burn off when I started it. There were marks from it having been installed on the cat, but other than a couple scratches it looks new.

This was a very obnoxious install, mostly because of how many places the stock cat pipe mounts to the car, and because they didn't design a couple of the runners to let sockets beside them. It wasn't hard by any means, but it took two people to complete it in about four or five hours (an hour of this was turning the second bolt on the top from the left with a 12 point wrench one point at a time).

Now, the part I'm surprised about, is that the people in the 'high performance focus builder's handbook' tested a shorty header, I think the JBA one, and found that it didn't help high rpm at all but helped torque at low rpm. In the book they were even surprised that it worked like this, yet when we tried the car after installing this shorty, the butt dyno made it seem like I gained a bit of torque in the midrange and a good amount of power back above 6k. I've never had this car turn past 6600ish, as it always dropped off so much that I would just shift. After this header, I can hit 7k without significant power drop off.

After we got this header in, I went to a friend's apartment at VA Tech and helped him put BBK shorties on his 04 mustang. I'm not sure which project made me more sore lol. I'm very happy with my headers though, pictures below and in this album http://imgur.com/a/7Johf
