2005 1.8LT LR Zetec Sedan

G'day, Justin from Perth Western Australia, just got permission to do her up from the lovely wife cause she is getting a new car. My daily driver will be the 4WD so, will more than likely bombard you with a thousand questions and like. First off will be suspension and some new rims as these ones are a tad scratched now and was thinking maybe 17's as these are 15s with stock tyres.

I would like to start of by modifying the suspension and standard air intakes for now, with eventual goal being to set it up for some track events, hill climbs in Perth with various car clubs. I am open to later on beefing up to a 2.5t XR5 conversion if possible, so if you have any suggestions pleeeeease fire them at me as I am new to the focus mod scene. We have had this car from new, is only got 74k on the clock and its immaculate as you can see, so a good canvas so to speak for me to mould.

Welcome! Your car looks mint. Great to see a clean sedan - in Twilight Blue, no less (I think)! I agree with you on the order of your mods. It definitely needs to be lowered and needs a set of less gaudy wheels - no offense.

Funny how other markets take their headlights/grilles/bumpers/side markers for granted... here in North America, many of us really desire the items that came stock on your car :P

I love that front bumper more than any other one i've seen ever. i dig euro grilles, and headlights with turn signals built in lol. the entire car looks sick, I dig the euro models ALOT more

but definitely lower her atleast 1.5 inches, and bolt on some nice wide 17-18 inch rims. and get some (darker) tint :D

Thanks for the welcome guys, yeah seems like a good plan. I am going to keep these rims juuuuuuust in case the police yellow sticker me for some ungodly reason, then its simple as put the old wheels on, over the pits for inspection then back into circulation haha... 17's might be the go I think... Now to source some rims and suspension... geez, the party starts.. hahah.

Here are some engine bay pics of the Euro Version as some of you have called it haha... Also some latest nice pics. I am looking at a 2.5lt V6 Mondeo/Cougar inplant conversion.... or seeing if a XR5 Motor can shoe horn in. You will notice on one of the pics a red line, this is only what I can gather is a Cold Air factory intake into the bottom of the airbox... help ? The red line represents the tube going under the battery area...







Does alot of the early model stuff like mine compatible, e.g. SVT brakes, calipers etc also XR5 stuff.

Spent over $200 today on parts for a service for her and to run it on some top oil from now on, Castrol Edge. Looking at entering some Under 2LT motor events in the near future, really looking forward to upgrading it and having some fun with it.

You engine bay looks identical to our U.S. version of the Zetec(except the U.S. one is a 2.0) Only difference that I spot is your throttle cable is going the wrong way lol, I know yours is RHD & mine is LHD. You've kept that bay looking real clean, props!

I would get different wheels ASAP, lots of OEM wheels look so much better than those. Then a drop, header/exhaust, tune, intake, black out the headlight housings, tint, color-match all the trim, debadge, etc. Start modding!

Cheers mate,

Did some repair work on the girl today, a new thermostat housing to head gasket/seal which was dripping at a rate of about a drop per 4-5 seconds and quickly emptied out my radiator over a day or so. Also with age the visor gromets have gone so some industrial strength velcro colour matched will do for some time until I get a price from Ford or a wrecker for some matching pairs. Does the job I reckon.
