cmd01's build thread
hi, quite new here, im from North Wales, UK, been playing with the idea of doing something to my car but i was going around in circles between doing something to my car or replacing my downhill mountain bike) in the end i opted to go for the car.

its not going to be a great build nor is it going to be spectacular :thumbdown

plans are:
Slammage - done
get rid of towbar
st170/leather seats
colour code bump strips and door handle
swap bumper for mk1.5 bumper

i went for fk coilovers in the end. I know they are cheap as chips but i dont want spend to much on this. they have been fine up to now after a week!

i always forget to take pics of the important stuff so heres a pic of the fk's in a box lol and the car with how she sits with around 25mm left on the front and around 40 on the rear. atm its sitting on 14" wheels which are next on my list to do!

what are your thoughts? any ideas on wheels? currentley looking at borbet c's, azev a's and escort cosworth wheels

Also was thinking of plastidipping my mirror covers and holder, unsure yet

thanks for looking

Looking good so far.

Personally for wheels, my favorites have always been the 15-spoke wheels that came on the ST-170's (in the States, we call them EAP's but I don't know what name they have in Europe).

BTW. No to plastidipping the mirrors. Body color is the best look for mirrors IMO.

Oh yeah. And welcome to [welcome]

thanks for the reply! Yeah them wheels are nice but are overly used imo + i wouldnt mind some poke rather than sitting flush

Also anybody know of a good product that will bring out the shine etc on the black trim? they look abit dull at the moment.

Looking real good, [welcome] to FF! [ffrocks]

I use 303 Aerospace protectant to give plastics a nice shine, it is also a dirt repellant, and UV protectant. It will not leave a greasy film either.

Welcome to FF[welcome]

I love the look of the european focuses. I also recommend the EAP wheels. Alot of people have them, but it doesn't change the fact that they look great.

again, thanks for the replys and welcoming's.

thing is with the eap's/st170 wheels i wont get any stretch and poke (which is the look im eventually going for) unless i put spacers on which would be odd/silly.

so ideally im looking for something with lower offset and wider, not to much as this is still my hitting the front plastic bit on the bumper at that height allready coming in and out of my drive :( and obviously im going lower, i just hope 16" wheels will lift it abit.

thanks for the recomendation on the plastic product, ill check it out!

thank you, any more opinions are welcome! :D

I dont know where to put this question so ill just put it in my build thread

surfing through ebay and came accross something different, a set of 3 spoke wheels et35 7.5 j 16" so would sit flush with arch/fender.

what are your thoughts? :P

personally, when done on mk4 golfs etc i think they look awsome!
