hi, quite new here, im from North Wales, UK, been playing with the idea of doing something to my car but i was going around in circles between doing something to my car or replacing my downhill mountain bike) in the end i opted to go for the car.
its not going to be a great build nor is it going to be spectacular :thumbdown
plans are:
Slammage - done
wheels
roofrack
get rid of towbar
st170/leather seats
colour code bump strips and door handle
swap bumper for mk1.5 bumper
i went for fk coilovers in the end. I know they are cheap as chips but i dont want spend to much on this. they have been fine up to now after a week!
i always forget to take pics of the important stuff so heres a pic of the fk's in a box lol and the car with how she sits with around 25mm left on the front and around 40 on the rear. atm its sitting on 14" wheels which are next on my list to do!
what are your thoughts? any ideas on wheels? currentley looking at borbet c's, azev a's and escort cosworth wheels
Also was thinking of plastidipping my mirror covers and holder, unsure yet
Personally for wheels, my favorites have always been the 15-spoke wheels that came on the ST-170's (in the States, we call them EAP's but I don't know what name they have in Europe).
BTW. No to plastidipping the mirrors. Body color is the best look for mirrors IMO.
I love the look of the european focuses. I also recommend the EAP wheels. Alot of people have them, but it doesn't change the fact that they look great.
thing is with the eap's/st170 wheels i wont get any stretch and poke (which is the look im eventually going for) unless i put spacers on which would be odd/silly.
so ideally im looking for something with lower offset and wider, not to much as this is still my daily.....im hitting the front plastic bit on the bumper at that height allready coming in and out of my drive and obviously im going lower, i just hope 16" wheels will lift it abit.
thanks for the recomendation on the plastic product, ill check it out!
got the wheels on, but they scrape on the arch, so going to try and see if i can borrow a mates arch roller in the next few weeks to properly lower it. heres the only pic i have of the wheels
oz superleggera's, 17/7j/et42 205/45/r17 continental's
yeah im pretty set on spraying them, i find they are to fast and furious in the chrome'y colour they are now. as they are allready resprayed theyre not the original oz colour.
ive had them a month or so, so im pretty set on spraying.
I've always been a fan of black wheels, but that's just me. Whichever you choose, best of luck to you! (And don't forget to post pics once they're painted) [thumb]
Got a few extra pics tonight. fitter some standard rear mudguards, but the tyres stick out beyond them, so i dont know what im gonna do, but im getting some new tyres soon.
got a mate whos got a decent camera which hes going to take some decent pics, i just cant get any decent ones with this phone.
getting some standard foglights soon and ghia grill (unsure if ghia exists in the usa?) also once the tyres are on, the helper springs and the rear purches are coming off so itll get a decent slammage. cant wait!
got my fog lights on with new lower grill, just want to find a new top grill. will get some pics asap!
Still havent got new tyres though (im just living with alot of scrubbing at the moment :/ ) will sort something out soon though!
also opinions on spraying the wheels white? or any other colour? finding current colour a bit boring/blandboyracerish to be honest
hoping that removing the adjusters and helper spring will sort the stance out (
