Do work, cancer fix on a budget.

So I'm getting tired of taken pictures of the drivers side of the car cause the the passenger side is such an eye sore with the rust. So today after new years dinner I finally got around to working on it. It's not done but it will get me by for now, I plan to get the whole car repainted this summer. It looks way better than it did that's for sure.

Scraped of the paint to get to the surface rust under the front door.

After I ran the grinder.

After some I filled the holes did some bondo work and some more sanding

Then after I smoothed everything put I painted it with matte black.

I let it dry and cleaned all the dust off.

Looks good! I would just be worried about the bondo cracking in the cold (like on the bigger holes) Do you plan on redoing it with sheet metal?

Just filling rust holes with bondo won't last for more than a few months. The rusted metal will continue to rust and the exposed bondo on the back side will absorb moisture and swell. It will be bubbling and will be coming off in a few months. I wouldn't plan to spend money on paint until it is fixed correctly.

I covered the holes with sheet metal you can see the metal showing through the bondo in this pic. I sanded down to till I saw the metal to get in as flat as possible. There is no way to fill in a hole that large with bondo alone it would have taken a gallon.

No I didn't I would have posted it up. I have to do some work on the bottom of driver side in the next couple weeks when I get a weekend off. I get some pics then. Only when I stood up to get away from the dust from sanding did I take some more pics. Call me a liar if yo want I telling you there is metal in there.
